Good God, I haven’t been able to pull myself away from the swift undercurrent of depression long enough to get seriously pissed at anything but “healthcare reform” (what a fucking joke lately), but this article on HuffPo awoke the beast within:
Senator Chuck Schumer forgot to check his dirty mouth for a flight on Sunday.
The New York senator was overheard calling a female flight attendant a “bitch” after she insisted that he shut off his cellphone so the plane could take off.
A Republican aide who witnessed the incident claims Schumer muttered the insult to none other than Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
According to Politico, who first reported the story, the aide quotes Schumer as saying, “It’s Harry Reid calling. I guess health care will have to wait until we land.”
Schumer’s spokesman later apologized for the incident, say that the senator “made an off-the-cuff comment under his breath that he shouldn’t have made, and he regrets it.”
So lemme get this straight, Schumer:

buhdy says there is no key, but I might have picked it up on a side street! I’m not sure if it’ll fit in the lock, but it just might. So I would like your help and your feedback, if you can spare a few minutes to read this today.
Last night, in a fit of SheKos mania (wherein I examined all the diaries I had missed), I rejoined Dkos. It really sucks to have to un-GBCW. 🙂
But you guys have taught me a ton of shit in the sad little 5 days that I was away. The wool is no longer pulled over my eyes. And I have been hashing it out all morning on the GOS with Obama supporters who keep using extremist language and, in effect, putting words in my mouth.
And then it kind of hit me, like a ton of bricks: THEY TOTALLY NEED US! We don’t fucking need them. I mean, the country is in the shitter as it is – seriously, how much worse can it get? Not much. Come reelection time, some of us Dharma Bums will vote for President Obama again, some of us will stay home, and some of us will go indie/3rd party. And if they want the prez to get reelected, they’re going to need to learn how to kiss our collective ass.
WE’RE the ones in power. HA HA! SCORE!

Sometime last year, I caught a 20/20 TV program (or Dateline, or somesuch other news magazine) regarding Amanda Knox. I remember being bothered by the reporter’s tone regarding Ms. Knox (which was, at best, Nancy Grace-ish sensationalist), and I remember being bothered that nothing in this twisted story seemed to add up or make any sense.
The program was two hours long and I was way, WAY confused when it ended.
For those of you not paying attention, Amanda Knox is a 22-year-old American woman who was convicted of murder last week, in an Italian court, for the death of her roommate, Meredith Kercher.
I’ve been minimally obsessed with this thing, and I’ve now read a metric fuckton regarding the entire situation. It doesn’t take a friggin’ rocket scientist to figure out Ms. Knox was not convicted in an Italian courtroom. They had extremely sketchy physical evidence, Holmes.
Like many other high-profile cases of this nature, Ms. Knox was convicted in the fucking press. And she was convicted because she’s a “whore”.

Hey guys –
So I understand that some of you are kind of worried about the GBCW that I posted on Dkos yesterday (well, early this morning), and I’ve had a few requests from DD folks to just delete that diary, take a break from The Kos, and then come back when I’m ready.
Yeah. I’m not going to do that. Here’s why:
When I deleted last night’s rant, it was really just the final straw for me. I cried a lot but, today, I don’t regret my decision at all. It was a good, solid decision for me to make, actually, and it frees me up to explore other ways that I can write without all the name-calling bullshit attached to it. I mean, I’d like to start posting here regularly, and maybe a few other places, too. And I’ll probably start up my own website at some point.
I’m 40, ya know? I’m too old for that kind of drama. I don’t want it anymore.
