August 6, 2001 – We Will Never Forget

You may remember my brother the activist.  I keep trying to get him to post, but he’s shy and busy.  He sent me this yesterday and I thought I’d share it with you.- ek

I don’t care where John Edwards puts his penis, but…

…I was wondering if you, dear reader, were Senator Obama….would you want Edwards to speak at your convention?

Think about the upside and the downside…the time is ticking, and you need to decide one way or the other.

Do you have Edwards speak with Mr. Clinton?

The NC media has been all over this; here is today’s article: http://www.newsobserver.com/po…

Braving the Enchanted Forest at Night

The trail is dark and narrow.  Our years of experience tell us Maine moose with large antlers prefer open trails to plowing through the woods when the light of day fades away.  The trail cuts through American Indian land so Steve names it the “Enchanted Forest”.  I am in the lead position and our family group’s elected trail guide and or most insane/adventurous idiot of the bunch.  Still I take a vote, “Should we or should we not”.  We are all bored from the continuous rains, we are up for adventure so the mission of braving the Enchanted Forest at dusk is a go.  Three ATVs five miles away from “home” enter.

My 18 yo Son Lost His Virginity Yesterday! (And I Watched!!!)

(Just a short one, crossposted from D-Kos)

Yep, he did!  Zach turned 18 this past June.   And yesterday, at lunch, I picked him up from the house and we went to the precinct at our nearby middle school.  There, my son voted in his first election as a registered voter!

“It’s just a primary,” some might say, but I know as well as every person here that every election is important.  And Zach, intrigued by the process, is just discovering this as well.  Seems the election workers somehow knew that this was his first vote, congratulated him and helped him through the process.

He voted (Dem, he told me) and picked up his ‘I Voted” sticker.

Pony Party: Dancing Bears

There’s a band out on the highway.

They’re high-steppin’ into town.

They’re a rainbow full of sound.

It’s fireworks, calliopes and clowns —

Everybody’s dancing!
