TBC: Morning Musing 8.27.14

So, I was surfing around the net yesterday and I happened upon this masterpiece of right wing wet dreamery at Red State Daily Kos. Seems Robert Reich, former Clinton Secy of Labor, had a short brainfart the other day where he suggested that we should eliminate the corporate tax in favor of caps gains taxes. I think maybe Reich may have started being a morning tippler, or maybe he didn’t quite think it through or some sort of similar lapse. Anyway it was all of 3 paragraphs long.

Of course, this was music to former GOPer cum gate crasher cum Dem Party neoliberal gate polisher and blog owner’s ears. In his zealous embrace of the idea, he even seemingly managed to forget copyright and posted 2/3rds of the entire missive. He brought up being able to hire more employees on the money he’d get to keep. The whole post had a rather gleeful feel to it.

(Jump!)

kossacks are richer, more male, and white than us.

I just think this is interesting in light of their constant complaint, that we don’t understand the needs of uninsured and poor!

kos made me laugh today!

I don’t even open the “from Barack Obama” emails anymore.  They make me want to lay down and take a nap.  kos, on the other hand, opens his:

   We will not back down

From: President Barack Obama to Markos

   Markos —

As we head into the final stretch on health reform, big insurance company lobbyists and their partisan allies hope that their relentless attacks and millions of dollars can intimidate us into accepting the status quo.

So I have a message for them, from all of us: Not this time. We have come too far. We will not turn back. We will not back down.

But do not doubt — the opponents of reform will not rest. So I need you to fight alongside me.

We must continue to build out our campaign — to spread the facts on the air and on the ground, and to bring in more volunteers and train them to join the fight. I urgently need your help to keep this 50-state movement for reform going strong.

Please donate $5 or whatever you can afford today:

   Let’s win this together,

   President Barack Obama

kos’s response: gold!

This is so freakin’ obnoxious I can hardly stand it. We are about to get a turd of a “reform” package, potentially worse than the status quo. We have the insurance industry declaring victory, Republicans cackling with glee, and the administration is using that piece of shit to raise money?

~snip~

Democrats are demoralized, and have little incentive to turn out next year. The teabaggers will turn out. If this is how the Obama camp thinks we can energize the base — by promising them a health care pony for $5 to the same Democratic Party that is home to the likes of Baucus, Nelson, Lincoln, Lieberman, and the rest of the obstructionist gang — then we’re in for a world of hurt in 2010.

less after the jump…

We must GET RID of Harry Reid at ANY cost in 2010, and we need YOUR help Kos

Crossposted at Daily Kos

I submit this for the approval and enjoyment of my fellow Dharma Bums as a challenge, not just to Kos, but to each and every Progressive in our nation. It is time to stop bitching about Harry Reid. It is time to do something about him politically.

So what are you gonna do?

With Love,

MoT

By At All Costs I mean POLITICALLY of course.

Not just Kos, we need everyone”s help, but I address this directly to Kos, among others whose aid we will need to pull this off.

Republican filibuster? Democrats have 60 voters. There is no Republican filibuster, just a Democratic one. The problem is Reid’s inability to keep his caucus together. His office can’t even be honest about Reid’s leadership failures. Fucking liars.

I’ll take a Chuck Schumer-run Senate with 57 Democrats (bye bye Reid, Lieberman, and Lincoln) than a Harry Reid-run one with 75 Democrats.

I need your help, Kos. Are you tired of Reid? Really? Then help me do something about it.

How I propose to take down Harry Reid and an open dialogue below the fold.

Can We Quit Talking About Daily Kos?

Disclaimer: If you are not doing what the Dog is talking about in this essay, then it is not directed at you! So, please don’t take offense where the Dog did not offer it.

This has been said by the Admins but the Dog is going to make his own plea about this. For the love the Flying Spaghetti Monster could we just not rehash all the shit from Daily Kos?

The Dog knows there are a bunch of folks who were banned there or left because of banning or policies or because they did not like the tone. The thing is by bringing this up constantly you are not actually making this site any better.
