New Blood for a Little Girl

Okay, those of you who know me, know that I am more of a commenter than a diarist. But a story I read today, from yesterday’s NYT, touched me & since Kossacks are so giving (& since this is the biggest forum I go to), I thought it was perfect for a shout-out.
A quick search revealed nothing: if this has been diaried before, I will delete it.
Anyway, there’s a six-year-old girl in New York who needs a bone marrow trasnplant. Details beneath the jump.

I don’t know whether you watched that first video. I don’t even know whether you are old enough to remember when it ran on tv the first time.
I remember it.
I remember when products that Americans bought were actually “Made in the U.S.A.”
But more of them were “Made in Japan.”
Now it’s “Made in China/Korea/Indonesia/Vietnam.”
Look: All those countries deserve good economies, and I’m all in favor of their building up their economies and exporting whatever they can.. There is nothing wrong with that.
But the GOP has done everything in their power since 1980 to ensure that the supposedly “free” market + globalization would screw the middle class and further enrich the richest among us.
This is not a bug, this is a feature.
Globalization and Trickle Down have one thing in common:

Peanut Butter Recall
The peanut butter recall continues to spread. This afternoon, while I was at work, my colleague got a phone call instructing her to pull a bunch more products, apparently in response to the latest round of recall news.
More recently, I visited La Vida Locavore…there’s more on the way. The entire situation ain’t pretty.
FWIW, Reese’s peanut butter cups seem to remain safe, as the Reese’s people seem never to have bought anything from the supplier in question.
But jars of pb are now on the do-not-eat list.
