NY State Sen Diane Savino On Gay Marriage

I am so proud that I had the opportunity to help elect this woman. Even though the NY State Senate voted down same sex marriage equality, Sen Savino’s words are so eloquent. It is so sad that her fellow legislators did not hear her words and comprehend their meaning. Sen. Savino says it all for me and so many others.

Be excellent to each other.

I am no longer live in her district but I still support her. I hope her political career takes her to the national level, she is truly a progressive Democrat.

That could be the understatement of the year, Mom…

  1. if I try to watch YT or play games…I can read & look at pics, and that’s where we are for now.

However, you want gay marriage in NYS?  Just wait.  Vermont is not so far away…NJ is considering it.  Iowa already has it.  There are millions of dollars to be made from gay couples who want to get married, but they live in places like SC or SD or California.

Many of them have the disposable income to travel to whichever state will provide them with a marriage license…and to pay for the reception, besides.  That’s a lot of cash flowing into more tolerant states, and being bled out of less-tolerant states.

I suspect the truly regressive states will not vote for gay marriage until the over-55 crowd is dead (and maybe not even then)…but NYS?  I hope that the legislators there are greedy/savvy enough to recognize that their loss is Vermont’s gain.  (I’m not holding my breath, though: the NYS legislature is completely dysfunctional.)
