Let’s get this straight; if President Obama and Atty. Gen. Holder investigate Bush administration officials for authorizing torture, the GOP will go back and investigate former President Clinton’s renditions?

Do you want investigations, or, a public kangaroo court?
There are a whole slew of things I want to write about coming out in the news, but, this one needs to be written NOW.
There are only two ways to go on torture; a) There are investigations, or, b) There is a continued public kangaroo court that means nothing. There cannot be both.

Torture and the “ticking time bomb”
This doesn’t seem to go away; pundits, ie, political idiots, that ultimately run to the “ticking time bomb” scenario to justify torture.
I have written about this before, but, will reiterate why this argument is pure idiocy again. As a military-trained bomb disposal specialist (Explosive Ordnance Disposal or EOD) with 19 years experience in the field, having been to Iraq twice during wartime, and having worked as a bomb technician on, and after, 9/11 — you can be sure I know of what I speak.
So, let me explain why this is pure idiocy…

Our government is officially no longer viable
Being of middle-age, I don’t remember as much history as some people. What I do remember of politics is America under President Carter forward. Our government is no longer a viable entity and the Two-Party system (which only came about because both Democrats and Republicans banded together to push out third Party candidates) has failed.

Military vs CIA; the “I was just following orders” defense
When the Abu Ghraib scandal broke, only because pictures were released, those military members who were involved were scapegoated, tried, convicted, and sent to prison. The defense of “I was just following orders” didn’t work for them.
Now that we know, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that the CIA and its contractors tortured detainees, the “I was just following orders” defense is suddenly paramount to President Obama?
