Olympic Alternatives

You thought I was not serious?

I’m dead serious.  The only way to effect change is through sacrifice (changing your habits) and protest (telling people what you think, publicly).

Plenty of other stuff out on the Hypnotoad.  Just look-

The Hypnotoad.

"Television is a vast wasteland"

All of them far more worth your eyeballs than NBC and it’s horrible coverage.

This isn’t even political, except for the lesson in activism.

Am I serious?

Dead serious.

I’ll not go further out of consideration for Caribou Barbie, but rest assured I’m prepared to do this all day, every day, for the rest of the Olympics.

Oh Rose, have something to eat.

Two hundred thousand years in the future he’s dying, and there’s nothing I can do.

Well, like you said, two hundred thousand years, it’s way off!

But it’s not!  It’s now.  That fight is happening right now!  And he’s fighting for us, for the whole planet, and I’m just sitting here eating chips!

Listen to me!  God knows I have hated that man, but right now I love him, and do you know why?  Cause he did the right thing, he sent you back to me!

But what do I do every day, Mum?  What do I do?  Get up, catch the bus, go to work, come back home, eat chips and go to bed, is that it?!

It’s what the rest of us do.

But I can’t!

Why, cause you’re better than us??

NO, I didn’t mean that!  I just…  But it was.  It was a better life!

And I don’t mean all the travelling, and seeing aliens and spaceships and things, that don’t matter.

The Doctor showed me a better way of living your life.  You know, he showed you too!

That you don’t just give up!  You don’t just let things happen!

You make a stand, you say no, you have the guts to do what’s right when everyone else just runs away.

  1. I had a really nice intro for Caribou Barbie that I’ll not use now.

And I could line this up better but I think it makes my point

  2. Im totally hooked on CSI.

DH watched marathon V yesterday on SCiFi.

I got happily hooked in to Animal Planet Saturday night watching Ocean stuff, narrated by Sig. Weaver.

I havent watched even 2 minutes of Olympics.

  3. … and did not watch any of it because of the human rights problems within the host country. And that Bush was there.

They don’t give a flying **** if anyone actually watches it, it’s all about the Advertisers –  get enough of them and the TV viewers are an afterthought.

I will still be watching parts of this, probably with the mute on (very peaceful that way, as I can multitask) or with a bit of a delay so the fluff and puff can be excised with the fast forward button.

Can’t think of a much better way to illustrate to the masses that it’s getting Too Warm To Hold Winter Olympics In Freakin’ Canada than to have the outdoor events getting rained on every day.

  4. This June will be the start of The World Cup in South Africa.  Self: try to be out of the US for those 2 weeks OR get direcTV subscription to “foreign language” channels that carry it OR get somebody to lend you a couch in SA so you can go to the games and blog about it.

  5. …  only  Geebus on a Cracker knows when the hell it will actually show up on my television screen because I’m in the same time zone as those pesky socialist Canucks.

Can’t you just post an occasional open thread for Olympics and just ignore it ?

We The Captive Audience of America,  could add comments about very small, skinny humans in tights getting thrown around and landing on their tushies on the ice and do alternative scoring while waiting for the real sports.

And Merideth Vierra, OMG, honey, look, when you’re the oldest women out there-   don’t flirt with the skating athletes half your age,  it makes you look pathetic even if you are better preserved than the rest of us.

  12. I’ve listened to three talking books instead.

  13. My two cousins who live in Vancouver are having a great time.  Not to dis the seriousness of the plight of the poor in the area noted by Edger last Friday  https://www.docudharma.com/show… or my uncles allegation that the local populace dumps its black water into the sea without treatment NOTE I’ve no proof of that allegation so it’s just rumor.

Back on point, I love the idea of the Olympics, sport for sports sake, the execution LOL NBC, ABC, CBS, UAE,USA, PRC. OMFG.  its a joke. NBA, NHL, Soccer, Sailing wheres the ‘amateur’ in it  It’s Coke and Visa, status quot world bank, rich over poor, haves over have not-s, realists vs, idealists Ah you guys know the rant.
