  1. I have new “famous last words:”

“I better eat the rest of that sauerkraut before it goes bad!”

Sorry I couldn’t be here for all the drama.

    🙂

  2. “How can sauerkraut go bad?”

  3. You and your bathroom are new best friends? Hope you are in recovery mode.

I still have memories of a meatball sub from Mr.Submarine one of the few places that were open late 25 years ago in my home town. Not pleasant.

And here I was worried about drinking the water.

I am now on ordered down time for the next 12 hours. I expect to find food, a place to clean up and sleep(yea, right).  Looking for vodka about now, we are realistic here, so don’t criticize. Sex and booze are stress relief, not kidding.

Dr. TMC is here too but I haven’t seen or heard from him in the last 2 days, not unusual.

These are some links because I love you guys

buhdy, glad you are feeling better. But really, don’t eat the blue, fuzzy food in the frig. 😉 And in case I haven’t said it enough, thank you. Love, TMC

  4. Im going to go read System Failure, Chris Hayes

So in this new year, while the White House focuses on playing within the existing rules, it’s our job as citizens and activists to press constantly for changes to those rules: public financing, an end to the filibuster, the breakup of the banks, legalization for undocumented workers and the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, to name just a few of the measures that would alter the balance of power and expand the frontiers of the possible.

If I had to bet, I’d say that not of one of these will be won this year. The White House won’t be of much help, and on some issues, like breaking up the banks, it will represent the opposition. Always searching and never quite finding is grueling and often dispiriting work. But there is simply no alternative other than to give in and let the field turn hard and barren.

It’s indisputably true that the political system is run by wealthy plutocrats and much of what passes for democracy is kabuki. Same as it ever was, I’m afraid. But that’s not exactly the point. It’s still worth participating, doing what you can, containing the damage, stopping the bleeding, fighting the fight — for its own sake. After all, history shows that humans have managed, somehow, to actually make progress over time. You just can’t know what will make the difference.
