The “Virgin Mary” Defense?

(6:00PM EST – promoted by Nightprowlkitty)

By now you no doubt read that U.S. Army General Cucolo has issued a policy statement concerning U.S. troops in Iraq; “get pregnant, face possible courts-martial“.

For the first time in history, our troops are to face a courts-martial for getting pregnant?

This begs the question; just who IS in charge in Washington, DC????

As Commander-In-Chief, a person who has the Joint-Chief’s on speed dial, you’d have thought the minute this was made public that President Obama would have had this policy announcement nixed.

Sex in a war zone?  Never happens!

Enlisted aren’t even allowed to socialize with the Officer corps — by regulation.  You can’t be married to a person in your chain-of-command — by regulation.  Of course, you aren’t allowed to sexually harass military members, either — by regulation.  And, anyone who has ever served in our military knows that these regulations are rarely, if ever, enforced.

But, get pregnant now and you can face a courts-martial proceeding?

Is President Obama in charge of ANYTHING?

Let me tell you how this will play out.  The very first female to get sent to a courts-martial because she got pregnant is going to set off a media firestorm.

The military will have to backtrack, claim ignorance, shyly say, “ummmm… we’re sorry… we didn’t really MEAN to courts-martial her, just forget that it took X number of months of this ‘policy’ being in place and a media firestorm for us to see how wrong we were”.

Because sex NEVER happens in a war zone!

And if President Obama and his Joint Chiefs don’t get out in front NOW, it will simply be a PR nightmare for his already floundering administration.

When I was in Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield, we had female military members be shipped back to the State’s because they were selling sex to the men.

When I was in Iraq in 2006, men and women military members were “hooking up” in vacant bunkers for sex.

Sex in a war zone happens.

Sending people to court-martial for getting pregnant?  THAT doesn’t happen.  Until now.

So, who IS in charge in Washington, DC?

  1. until 40 weeks from now.  To do so otherwise is an ex post facto law.  I.e. you cannot illegalize (my word) somebody who was pregnant before the policy was adopted.
