Differences of Opinion vs Attack

Buhdydharma has asked a question; should Docudharma become a warzone against the “Obamabots” of Daily Kos?

Sure, I could have simply made a comment, voted in the poll, and been done.  But, there is more to it than merely asking a question.  There is an answer, and, it is complex.

I don’t claim to know the philosophy of Docudharma, or, the personal philosophy of buhdydharma.  I do know that many of the people here used to frequent Daily Kos and were even driven off, banned, or simply post on both sites.  So, there is already a history that cannot be ignored.

This “history”, however, goes beyond President Obama supporters.  When I first started posting at Daily Kos, any diarist that dared to suggest anything that was deemed “detrimental” to the Democratic Party were attacked.  I had just missed the whole 9/11 bannings, but, being attacked for anything considered CT or “extraordinary claims” were quite common.  Next were the Israel-Palestinian attacks.  What all of these had in common were that there were many people who were simply deemed “trolls” by some at Daily Kos and that brought about the HR flame-wars.

Docudharma was a breath of fresh air.  We could actually put forth our beliefs and have discussions over them.  We discuss 9/11.  We discuss the corporate takeover of society and government.  We discuss personal items.

Some of us who weren’t banned from Daily Kos still post diaries there, many of which aren’t well received by that crowd.  We do cross-post them here, as well, at times.  And, we’ve been known to engage in bashing of some of the comments made over at Daily Kos to those diaries.

Do we need to go on the attack with these people?  No.  First, it is like getting into a fight with a pig; nobody wins and everyone gets dirty.  Second, it doesn’t do any good.

I have posted diary after diary over at Daily Kos that details the decisions that President Obama has made that undermine his campaign promises.  I have watched these people in the comment section attack the diary, myself as the diarist, Glenn Greenwald, Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!, Jane Hamsher of Firedoglake, Joe Avarosis of AMERICAblog, anyone who simply isn’t cheering on President Obama no matter what he does.

To their credit, there are some front-pagers at Daily Kos that have started seeing what we here already know; there is a problem.  Markos has gone from “just get Democrats elected” to “some Democrats suck and need replacing”.  Once they get to the point where they, too, are openly speaking out about the policies, do you have any doubt that these “Obamabots” won’t attack them, as well?  It’s a learning curve for some, especially when they are politically motivated, or worse, being paid to push a politically motivated meme.

I don’t believe anyone here at Docudharma can be considered a GOP supporter.  I believe many of us are Independents, or at least, free-thinking individuals.  We see the problem and automatically speak out.

Sure, some of my Daily Kos diaries are jabs at the Daily Kos community because I saw something coming that occurred while others at the time were deriding me for even daring to print it.  They are my, “I told you so”, diaries.  Sure, there are the occasional “flash bloggings”, where a diary is cross-posted and some of us from Docudharma have posted comments to that diary over at Daily Kos.

But, open up a flame war on purpose?  Why?  Isn’t that what some of us have seen from them?  That they go from one diary to the next to simply flame and deride?

Now, does that mean that I am going to stop posting diaries there, even knowing that the comments I’ll get are from a few supporters and those “Obamabots” that troll the diaries?  No.  But, I don’t post on other people’s diaries there, either.  For those here that do post on diaries, I simply don’t see how it can become a DK vs Docudharma battle unless we make it one.

    yes, yes, yes. Excellent.

Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative.

Latch on to the affirmative; don’t mess with Mr. In Between.

I had that as my sig line on DK for a bit. But as has been pointed out; I change sig lines like T-shirts.

I think taking on DK and the Obamabots is a personal choice, and is one that anyone can do — over there.

There’s no reason to have that crap come over here.   Just the simple idiot who followed Colorado over here brought some really bad energy with him.

This place has a great energy, and I, for one would like to keep it that way.

Maybe it’s selfish, but hey.   If this place gets bad energy, I’ll probably just stay away from it.

In fact, and I’m very close to writing an essay about it, the Big Thing Wrong with DD is that it’s too much of a stepchild of DK.   It has to move beyond that.   How”  I don’t know.  But I wish I did.   It’s something we should all think about.

Because this place isn’t gonna grow until it moves beyond that.

that we should absolutely NOT invite the purity trolls here to duke it out. It would ruin the place, and I value it way too highly to tolerate that. But talking about it is kinda like talking about conspiracy theories, which we are allowed to do here if we want. Observing concerted “bipartisan” efforts to destroy what was and is the most significant website for left-leaning Dems on the ‘toobs is something left-leaning Dems (and Independents) should do if they still care. Coming to the realization that what’s happening over there is a concerted “bipartisan” effort at destruction is something Kos and his kossacks need to figure out for themselves.

Because even mentioning such a thing at GOS would of course get one immediately banned for CT.
