It’s a lie factory. They make lies. Factory-made lies. Lies from a factory. A factory of lies.

How many ways can we think of to say it and say it and say it?

The shot rang around the blogosphere this morning, everyone has heard it. It’s quoted on a rec list diary at Daily Kos.

GRAYSON: My response is WHATEVER. America is sick of you, Republican Party. You are a LIE FACTORY – that’s all you ever do. Why don’t you work together with the Democrats to solve America’s problems instead of making stuff up?

It is good to see that Dem leadership is going to stand with Grayson on his “Die quickly” line and reject the fake outrage from the other side. However, I can’t help but feel like we will let an opportunity to go on offense slip away. Again.

<!–break–>

It’s what I see over and over again. How we can’t (don’t) pound something home the way the Right does.

If a Republican called a Democrat out in this way and it got the attention this has, including a harsh blow back from the left, the Republican drumbeat would begin immediately. Any Republican on any camera for the next 48 hours would be repeating, repeating, repeating it. And the media would follow.

Cantor: “I don’t know what they are doing over there. It’s like this giant factory, and they make really good lies, big lies.”

Newt: “I don’t know what they’re making at the GM plant now that it’s been taken over by the government, but all they make at the Democrat factory is lies.”

FOX BREAKING NEWS (scrolling): Democrat party: A Lie Factory?

Morning Joe: “I think it’s fair to say that both sides can stretch the truth once in a while, but you have to look at the left and ask: is it just a lie factory?”

Lieberman: “You know, from inside the Democrat party, it would not be appropriate for me to say really, but yes, it can be like a lie factory sometimes.”

CNN (scrolling): Democrats confirm “lie factory” rumors.

Boehner: “Well yes I am concerned. I mean, it is a lie factory from what I can see, and frankly I am outraged.”

Stephanopoulos: “Well, ridiculous is one way to look at these allegations Mr. President, sure – but seriously, it’s a lie factory right?”

Where is our drumbeat? Rep. Grayson has called them out in a way that is so damning because it is so true. The Republicans would take something like this and run with it even if it was a lie. We can’t even do it when it is the truth.

It’s good to see Speaker Pelosi stand behind Grayson, and I hope that her support will inspire more Democrats to call Republicans out in this way. “Lie factory” is the kind of thing that can really catch on.

Republicans went too far out on the wingnut limb during August with the whole death panel and Nazicare freak show and I think they know it. They demonstrated themselves to be nothing but a factory of lies.

I believe “Lie Factory” is a perfect bludgeon to use right now and I hope to see a lot more of it.
