“I’d do it again” says Bush’s Shoe Thrower

The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former President George W. Bush said Tuesday that he would do it all again.

~snip~

“I wouldn’t hesitate to do what I’ve done, even if it means [somebody] killing me,” he said.

~snip~

At a news conference Tuesday, he said that he was abused immediately after his arrest and the following day. He said he was beaten with iron bars, whipped with cords and was shocked in the backyard of the building in the Green Zone where the news conference was held.

~snip~

An unrepentant al-Zeidi explained that his actions were motivated by the U.S. occupation: “I want to ask the American people if an Iraqi occupies America and kills one million Americans, displaced 5 million people and demolished and destroyed America, then what would be the reaction of the American people?”

For those who don’t recall (though I doubt anyone here doesn’t) here is the video of the incident in which Iraqi Journalist Muntadhar al-Zeidi hucked a shoe at Ex-President and War Criminal George W. Bush.

“This is your farewell kiss, you dog!” he shouted at Bush in Arabic as he hurled the shoes. “This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq,” he continued.

Of course, you would think Republicans would appreciate the ability for an individual to protest an oppressive Government or a foreign tyrant, but I doubt they get it. I doubt they ever get it.

But when you really think about it, consider this. al-Zeidi was tortured and imprisoned, and despite that he says he would do it again. Wow.

The word is that there will be massive celebrations in Iraq today to honor al-Zeidi’s release. He has been offered money, women, whatever he wants. A Saudi citizen offered to buy just one of the offending footware for$10 million dollars.

And yet al-Zeidi fears for his life and for his familiy, and says that he will be staying at an undisclosed location in the future.

And yet he would still do it again, if he had the chance.

To those who would say that it is hypocritical for Democrats to condemn Representative Joe “YOU LIE!” Wilson (R-SC) and yet defend al-Zeidi I have this to say, al-Zeidi was an Iraq protesting the unlawful invasion and occupation of his nation, Joe Wilson is an American citizen who disrespected the American President.

BIG DIFFERENCE.

Of course, you wouldn’t be able to see that if you were a Republican. Reality and comparisons don’t count for them.

Oh wait, nobody knows about that.

Gee, I wonder why the shoe thrower that we DIDN’T shoot and kill was released early?

Sorta stole the news about murdering the OTHER shoe thrower.

    US troops kill Fallujah ‘shoe-thrower’

FALLUJAH, Iraq – An Iraqi man who witnesses said shouted abuse before throwing a shoe at a US army vehicle was shot dead on Wednesday in what the American military said was a suspected grenade attack.

Residents told an AFP reporter in Fallujah that Ahmed Latif, 32, whom they said was mentally disturbed, insulted the soldiers as they patrolled in the centre of the city, and then hurled a shoe at them.

The US military told AFP that a convoy in Fallujah had been attacked with a suspected grenade.

“Positive identification of the attacker was made, and US forces fired in self-defence wounding the attacker,” the army said in a statement.

“Local Iraqi police secured the scene and transported the wounded attacker to a local hospital for medical care,” it added.

Dr Ali Hatam of Fallujah hospital confirmed that Latif died of gunshot wounds.

    Nice.
