Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss

During the Bush years, America saw the largest increase of the national debt as every year, the debt hit higher records.  So, what is Timothy Geithner doing?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner formally requested that Congress raise the $12.1 trillion statutory debt limit on Friday, saying that it could be breached as early as mid-October.

He wants to raise the debt ceiling.

But, it doesn’t end there…

Under Bush, Blackwater was given millions, if not BILLIONS, in contracts.  Even with the recent allegations that include promoting child prostitution, Blackwater, now called Xe, is still getting paid, this time, by the Obama administration.

You would think that with these allegations, the Obama administration would be sacking Xe as fast as it could:

The declarations describe Blackwater as “having young girls provide oral sex to Enterprise members in the ‘Blackwater Man Camp’ in exchange for one American dollar.” They add even though Prince frequently visited this camp, he “failed to stop the ongoing use of prostitutes, including child prostitutes, by his men.”

But, no, the Obama administration is eerily silent on this issue.  To be clear, when people know that the prostitutes brought into camp are, in fact, underage Iraqi girls, it is pretty damn obvious what is happening.

This is over and above the documented attempts by the Obama administration to push beyond even Bush’s secrecy claims, indefinite detention claims, and executive power claims.

This is after giving Wall Street even more billions, after Bush’s billions, only to bring into the administration Geithner and Summers, two of the people that helped facilitate the financial meltdown.

And, we get treated to the knowledge that the Obama administration negotiated, behind closed doors, a “deal” with Big Pharma that protected their profit margin.

In closed-door negotiations with President Obama and his top aides throughout the spring, Big Pharma offered its support for comprehensive health care reform and pledged to cut $80 billion in costs over the next ten years. Just exactly what Obama promised in return wasn’t made public and was the subject of intense debate on Capitol Hill Thursday, as senators wondered aloud if the White House had tied their legislative hands.

Earlier in the week, there were reports that Obama had promised to oppose any congressional attempt to exact further money from the massive pharmaceutical industry, which would include allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower prices or import cheaper drugs from Canada — two major priorities for congressional Democrats.

In a Thursday meeting with Senate Democrats, some of those present thought the White House backed off that deal. The administration has now stepped in to clear up its position: Congress can vote to do those things — just not as part of the health-care overhaul legislation.

So, there you have it.  President Obama, and his aides, have sided with the corporations at the expense of the people.

Meet the new boss.  Same as the old boss.

    that’s what gets me.

Remember when he campaigned and he talked about how in health care negotiations, they were all gonna “sit around the table” and it was all gonna be visible and transparent, and he suggested they broadcast the talks live on the internet and maybe TV?   Everybody would have a “seat at the table” and it would all be out in the open.

The guy fucking lied.   That’s all there is to it.

Just another lying politician whose loyalties are to the guys who play golf.
