The Beach Boys:  I Get Around

Jan and Dean:  Little Old Lady from Pasadena

This is the first of three parts.  This part covers the first half of the year.

  1. not very well known in the United States, except maybe as the woman who headlined her 1963 tour until the promoters had to flip the bill and let the Beatles close the shows.

She was 17 years old when she made this record.

Here’s another of hers from 1964 that I’d never heard before but I’ve known the tune via Dusty’s version.

  2. I wish I could find Rita Coolidge version of “Fever” online… relying on memory, but Im pretty sure she did a killer rendition of it.
