An Idiot Wind has been blowing, it’s been blowing across America for a generation. The Idiot Wind never stops blowing, it gusts every time the lips of a Republican start flapping, it blows harder every time the lips of corporate media hacks flap in praise of Republican lip flapping . . .
The Idiot Wind is everywhere, there’s no escape from it, there’s no escape from the damage it inflicts, there’s no escape from the Category Five propaganda it peddles, it’s unrelenting, it’s deafening, I haven’t known peace and quiet for so long I can’t remember what it’s like.
Can anyone here remember what peace and quiet is like?
Can anyone here remember what media integrity is like?
Can anyone here remember what responsible journalism is like?
Can anyone here remember?
Before the Idiot Wind started blowing, before it blew the truth away, before it blew out all the lights and left us in the darkness of endless deceit, America had actual journalists . . .
Now we have Idiot Wind howlers, a Corporate Propaganda Ministry filled with hacks, hacks for corporate fascism, hacks at NBC, hacks at CBS, hacks at ABC, hacks at CNN, hackery beyond all belief at FOX, and they’ve all been howling at full force. They hurt the ones that I love best, and cover up the truth with lies, but one day they’ll be in the ditch, flies buzzin’ around their eyes, blood on their saddle.
That day is coming . . .
Your propaganda empire is dying, Rupert. It’s far from dead yet, but its dying. Your hacks keep telling us what’s good is bad, what’s bad is good, but you found out when you reached the top that you’re on the bottom. The bottom of an ocean of blood. The bottom of a mountain of lies.
Old media is dying, and New Media Is Being Born
Just in time, because everything’s a little upside down, as a matter of fact the wheels have stopped . . .
New Media has to develop quickly, journalistic integrity has to be restored, because the Idiot Wind is still blowing, blowing like a circle around my skull, from the Grand Coulee Dam to the Capitol. It blows every time Limbaugh and Hannity and O’Reilly bellow, it blows every time the talking heads of the corporate media wag their tongues. They’re idiots, they’re all idiots, it’s a wonder that they still know how to breathe, it’s a wonder anyone still listens to them, it’s a wonder anyone still listens to the High Priests they lie for, the High Priests of the Idiot Wind, who wore black on the seventh day and sat stone-faced while the building burned . . .
and burned . . .
and burned . . .
I noticed at the ceremony, their corrupt ways had finally made them blind. I can’t remember their faces anymore, their mouths have changed, their eyes don’t look into mine. Their eyes don’t look into anything, their eyes are dead, there’s nothing behind those eyes but emptiness, the emptiness of a dead ideology, the emptiness of dead minds, dead souls, and dead words, the emptiness of dead men walking, dead men talking, dead men wandering blind through this wasteland of war and economic collapse they’ve damned the world to suffer, dead men with flies buzzing around their eyes, dead men of craven lies, dead men of a dark and dying empire of deceit, dead men of the Idiot Wind.
Smoke pouring out of a boxcar door,
He didn’t know it, he didn’t think it could be done,
But in the final end he won the war,
After losing every battle.
The lone soldiers of the New Media,
Are going to win this war.
They will be heard, they will be heeded,
And the Idiot Wind will blow no more.
