I would imagine that many of you reading this will agree with me when I say that I think we’ve got a pretty good thing going here at Docudharma. Its a special place with VERY special people where we can talk politics, but often go way beyond the limited way that most people envision that subject. We’ve got some of the brightest minds and compassionate hearts right here in our midst who keep us going through the tough times and inspire us to be better.
I say all of that because it takes all of us working together to make this place work. No one of us could do it on our own and that is the definition of collective action. But there are a couple of people who shoulder a little bit of an extra burden for this place. Of course there is our inspirational leader and sometimes zen dictator, buhdydharma. And then there’s the person who keeps the wheels on this bus going, OTB. There are responsibilities that come with their commitment to this place that we can support, but don’t necessarily share.
One of their responsibilities is to pay the bills so this place can keep running. I’d like to suggest that, while they are the primary ones who shoulder that burden, we as a collective can take more ownership for making sure that happens.
I know the economic times are difficult and many of us can’t afford to do that. But for those of you who might have an extra $5, $10, $20, or $50 at the end of the month, how about considering a monthly contribution to Docudharma?
Have you noticed that we haven’t had any ads on the site in quite a while? Other than our donations, that’s the only way that this place is supported. I’m sure that some folks send in a contribution every now and then, or when an appeal is made. And that’s great. But we all know that the bills usually come once a month. And I think we need some way to ensure that Buhdy, OTB, and the site can be maintained on an ongoing basis.
OTB has recently put up a pretty alms bowl on the right of your screen where you can click to go to paypal to make a donation.
For those of you who are able, please consider using it on a regular basis. I’ve thought that I could use this time slot once a month on Tuesday nights as a reminder. If you think that’s a good idea, let me know in the comments. Or if you have other ideas about how we can do this, please share them.
It wouldn’t take much from those of us who can to make this place hummmmm. Remember:

I kept hearing as I was writing this.
Is there a way to set up an ongoing monthy donation through paypal or do I just have to mark it on my calender.
At least we already know the boss does not need socks or underwear.
