Empty Garden

What happened here?

010926etssky

As the New York sunset disappeared?

Everything began to get very strange.  That’s what happened.

Anthrax.  Patriot Act.  Deadly evil in Iraq!  Yellowcake shake and bake, Powell’s briefing is a fake.  Mushroom clouds, Evil Axis, what the fuck, let’s cut taxes!  Preemptive war, Judy’s a whore, photo op scenes and Diebold machines.  Alito, Katrina, Brownie and FEMA.  No jail for Scooter, a close call for Shooter.  Sex with pages, falling wages, attorney purges and Baghdad surges.  The Decider is Custer so his hacks filibuster.  FISA and spying while Reid keeps on lying.  The dollar is tanking, democracy’s fading, our soldiers are dying, and wingnuts keep hating. Huck and McCain, more wars in vain, Rudy and Romney and Rove are insane.  Obama keeps saying we have to unite, but after 8 years of treason, I think it’s time for a fight.

What happened here?  The whole damn country’s an empty garden, that’s what happened here . . .

Who lives here?

We do.

In what’s left of America . .

flag

For two-hundred years,

We’ve been gardeners who cared a lot,

We’ve weeded out the tears and grew a good crop.

Over and over again.

But now it all looks strange.

It’s gory how one insect . . .

cheney

can damage so much grain.

So we’ve been knocking . . .

Capitol at night

But no one answers.

We’ve been knocking, every dark day.

We’ve been good citizens.

We’ve been gardeners who cared a lot,

We weeded out the tears and grew a good crop.

But now we’re bankrupt, we’re crippled and we’re dazed . . .

So in this nationwide desert,

That used to be the Garden of America,

We pray for rain, and with every drop that falls,

We hear . . . we hear your name . . .

Senator Obama

I’ll support you, Obama.  Inspire America.  Talk unity.  Get yourself elected.  But when you make it to the White House, once you have it fumigated so it’s fit for human habitation again, I’m going to need to see a lot of this from you:

Obama

I think you know who to point at.  They have the blood of a million people on their hands and billions of our dollars in their pockets, so they shouldn’t be too hard to spot.  CONSEQUENTLY, once you take that oath of office as President to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, I expect you to DO THAT.

You want unity, Obama?

So did South Africa.

That’s why they established a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

America needs one.

Truth.

Justice.

THEN Reconciliation.

That’s the only road to unity in America, Obama.

Lead us down that road.

Say YES WE CAN to that.

  1. the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. As it happens, I still have a vivid memory of going to see Albie Sacks speak in Toronto when apartheid was still alive and well. Guess I am showing my age, huh? He was quite inspiring.

We do need one. We could also use a Church Committee, wonder who would be his equivalent.

  2. I hope America’s still here when I wake up.

thanks once again for your outstanding work on behalf of America.

  3. And the best part is that even after all the lies and betrayals and disappointments we’ve witnessed, we’re still able to believe there’s something better ahead. We’re either hard-core optimists or completely delusional nut-cases.

  4. I love this essay of yours.

My fear is that Obama has been and is being built up bigger than Obama, himself.

Corporations are a huge factor in what he will or will not able able to accomplish unless there is Impeachment.

One thing I do believe is that Obama will listen to We the People.

In the meantime, here’s “El Psycho” in an interview on an Israeli television station, talking about how much more work and plans he has for his last year!

I think there is cause for adequate concern! (Understatement)

“I think you reserve impeachment for grave, grave breaches, and intentional breaches of the president’s authority,” he said.

“I believe if we began impeachment proceedings we will be engulfed in more of the politics that has made Washington dysfunction,” he added. “We would once again, rather than attending to the people’s business, be engaged in a tit-for-tat, back-and-forth, non-stop circus.”

I want to be inspired. I want to jump on the bandwagon. I want to be hopeful. But I don’t see any New Deal coming, just a more palatable form of the old deal.

  5. You definitely help keep me on course. Thanks!

Your’ rap goes perfectly to “We didn’t start the fire”, or at least it did in my head when I was reading it.  Coincidence?
