Banner Contest!

Step right up Ladies and germs and make your entries!

There are no rules, no guidelines, and no real time limit. If we don’t use it now, we MAY use it later. I must admit that I have certain prejudices, I love OPOL’s eyes and the space theme and would be thrilled to have designs that incorporate them.

As Zwoof did here in a draft of his early entry

Photobucket

But it doesn’t HAVE to be a tweak or variation of OPOL’s excellent design…if you want or need to come up with something completely different and original, please do NOT hesitate to go for it! In spite of my prejudices….it will be the decision of the community, through a vote or series of votes that determines the winer, so my prejudices are not really germane! Or Tito!

OK, I can’t think of anything else to say! I’ll be happy to answer any questions in the comments.

And the reclining Buddha! Maybe a dancing pony?

    Naw, keep the Buddha.

  2. And the font.

    It’s a branding thing.

    Yes I know.  Inhibited creativity.

Trust me on this one, it also echos the color scheme.

  3. But I like this banner….

Snicker…. Actually I don’t mind that one but for some reason I want to rearrange it or make it wider so the universe can be above the eyes. The might look too “busy” though.

  4. If you still have LOE’s version, maybe you could stick it in the essay?

and the earth had more relationship to the words (bring it alittle closer and make it a touch bigger?) i think it’s a good one.

for me, i’ve never been crazy about the font.

i don’t have photoshop, so these are lowly powerpoints to illustrate the concept of staging all the elements of DD… the ponies, tiger, eyes… as buhdy or OTB feel in a tiger mood or pony mood, they can switch them…

the red we use would be better if toned down with a little brown in it… would make all the white space more grounded

also… imo, stick with dramatic but simple. fewer elements, not more. but powerful. i also like the banner spilling into the blog a bit. it gives it some depth.

if rotating elements are a consideration, i would suggest they be used without backround (like just the tiger w/o the gray around it) or have a box that works with the banner?  the eyes (as long as they don’t move buhdy) stay as they are of course…

anyway…. just for the rough idea of it:

    Double. With cheese.

  5. as it is now. [pouts and stamps foot] It’s one of the reasons I signed on.

If you must have change, the comment above about having several in rotation, each with the eyes in the same place and same font, is good.

  6. Not that there`s anything wrong with the present one.

  7. All hail Zwoof.

  8. I’d love to do one. When does it need to be done by?

  9. No question.

  10. I think I know someone who could toss something off for this…

  11. …can I put an ad for my graphic services on your site. I need to start getting paid for my artwork or I’m going to have to get a ((gasp)) job! 🙁

  12. The banner we have up currently.

    or

    Zwoof’s

    or

I’ll accept News Corpse’s if we change his eyes to the Nepal Buddha’s eyes.

Any of these would be fine with me.

    Tashi Delek!
