WE’RE GOING TO HELL IN A HAND BASKET

I remember my grandfather saying this. He meant our nation. I remember my mom saying this. She meant America.

It had already begun before my grandfather said it. It had gained momentum when my mom was saying it.

Now I say it. I say it meaning the United States. I also say it meaning the world. The momentum the hand basket had when my mom said it has turned into a flying hand basket. A jet propelled hand basket.    

The descent of the hand basket and all it contains, seems to be caught in a tsunami, a hurricane, an avalanche. At times it feels like there is no hope of stopping the hand basket from reaching it’s stated destination .

Yet, we must try. If we don’t, what do we tell our young children or our grandchildren? What do we say when they ask the inevitable questions?

What did you do to stop the hand basket so my generation wouldn’t be worse off than yours? How did you try to keep the path of the hand basket from making us the first group in America’s history worse off than those before them? Why did you let the hand basket move on and on and leave us on the brink of complete annihilation and destruction of our nation, our world, our planet?

Did you do your best to stop the hand basket cradling our country, our world and our planet? Did you at least try to slow the tide of the tsunami, the winds of the tornado or the avalanche of snow increasing the speed of the hand basket?

What things, people, circumstances, events, difficulties, problems and more are in the hand basket on its way to hell? We can’t even imagine all of what it contains, much less list them all. The hand basket contains all from the beginning of mankind and we’re letting it hurdle to hell at an unprecedented rate.  

To name just some of the recent things to be put in the hand basket from the United States, our actions, our lack of actions, our policies and practices would seem to fill the hand basket until it overflowed and the list would still not be complete.

Even the most recently added to the overflowing hand basket are so very sad, yet, the majority in the hand basket are good.

So, how is it possible that the hand basket is nearing it’s final stop so rapidly?

The bad, negative, evil and worse are the forces propelling the hand basket towards hell. They are only 10% of those in the hand basket. How could 10% possibly be moving the hand basket along at an ever increasing rate? Why would they be doing it? Why doesn’t matter. It may never be known. Maybe it is just that they are greedy, egomaniacs with a never ending lust.  

The rest of us just need to know they, the 10%, are steering the hand basket. They are not only steering the hand basket but they are making it move faster and faster each day.

The good who are the other 90% in the hand basket are desperately trying to put on the brakes, to stop the hand basket or to at least slow down what seems to be the inevitable fate of the hand basket.

Oh, the horrors in the hand basket. Oh, the terrible things in the hand basket just from The United States Of America. Just from the 10% of America’s leaders who are despicable and wretched.

In the hand basket is the war in Iraq. The devastation of a nation that America had no right or reason to invade. The horror of the death and destruction of a people, a nation, a society, a culture.

In the hand basket are the American troops and Iraqis who died. Innumerable others who suffered physical injuries.

Many more and their families who will live forever with the mental torture of TBI, PTSD, mental health issues, divorce, suicide, homelessness and more. All these with little or no help for their problems from the 10% who pushed so vehemently for them to perpetrate this trespass.

In the hand basket are forty seven million uninsured Americans with all the difficulties, heartache and misery this creates for them.

In the hand basket is now the body of Benazir Bhutto on top of Lincoln, Kennedy, Martin Luther, seven million Jews from the holocaust and so many many more bodies of those who died for reasons without just explanation.

In the hand basket are the hungry, the homeless, the forgotten. Many are from the wealthiest nation on earth. In the hand basket are the missing children, those forced into sexual slavery and child pornography. Many are from the richest nation in the world. They will never recover from their scars.

In the hand basket are the children who have been abused. Abused physically, mentally and emotionally. Those who will never be whole again without a great deal of help, if ever. Those who can not trust anyone. Those who feel that almost everyone is out to hurt them. Those that blame others for all their difficulties later in life. Those without the ability to listen to anyone’s direction. Those who spend their life fighting all authority and structure. Those that wallow in self pity. Who can blame them, they were damaged as children. Children are supposed to be our future. They are in the hand basket. Many are now adults and were once the children of our future and they are in the hand basket

In the hand basket is the melting arctic. The warming of our earth. The destruction of the rain forests. The loss of many of god’s creatures that now only exist in the hand basket and the many more soon to be only in the hand basket.  

In the hand basket are a minority of 10% who are terrible, awful and evil people. The hand basket has always had this 10% minority in it.

The current 10% in the hand basket, which includes many US leaders, have been putting their supplies in the hand basket for years while the majority were not looking. The majority never suspected what the use would be for those supplies in the hand basket. They would soon find out how the supplies would affect the hand basket and all it contains.

The 10% in the hand basket have lived for many years by the motto of divide and conquer. The 10% in the hand basket have meticulously, intelligently and deceptively divided the other 90% in the hand basket. The 90% in the hand basket (that are basically good) have been splintered into 10, 20, 30 or more groups. They are scattered all over the hand basket.

In the hand basket many of the 90% who are so divisive and each have “their” own, one or two or three primary issues that even divide them from the others in the 90%. The division that the 10% have worked so diligently to create has been completed.

The 10% are working as one mass in the basket. The 10% in the basket have one common goal and only one. It has several parts but they are intertwined into one common purpose.  

The 10% got everything in place in the hand basket in the past eight or ten or twelve years.

They have their supplies in the hand basket. They created the divisions they wanted in the 90% in the hand basket.  

Now the 10% are furiously using the supplies they were hording in the hand basket. Paddles, sails and skis.

They have increasingly been reaching out of the hand basket and paddling with the tsunami, holding out sails to help the tornado, laying skis on the snow in aid of the avalanche.

My God, their acts exponentially propel the hand basket’s speed towards destruction of a once great nation. Not only a once great nation but the world that is in the hand basket is now moving with the combined force of paddles in the tsunami, sails in the tornado and skis on the snow of an avalanche.

Oh yes, a nation with a history of bad deeds. Decimating the native Americans, slavery, war, internment camps, Nagasaki, Hiroshima and more. But, a nation that seemed to have 90% good to the 10% bad.

A country that at least had the hand basket sitting still at times. Even steady and motionless momentarily because the 90% were not so divided and split.

The hand basket contains the torn nation of the USA. A nation immensely divided over war. Immigration. Gun control. Social services. Government spending. Healthcare. To privatize many things or not. Stem cell research. Veterans care. Pro choice or against it. Animal rights. The environment. Global warming. Gay and lesbian issues. Alternative fuels. Military strength. Liberties. Rights. The constitution. Torture and more and more.

The list of divisions of the 90% of the people of America in the hand basket is a fair amount. The hand basket is exactly as the evil 10% want. The 90% in the hand basket seem to have split into too many groups occupying different places in the hand basket.

The 10% in the hand basket have only one purpose. The hand basket has the 10% all on one side working together.

The hand basket holds the 10% who are a rich, powerful and destructive minority. The hand basket holds the 90%, dedicated, passionate and humane majority but split, divided and scrambled.

Oh, there’s always been good and bad in the hand basket. There’s always been that evil 10% and the decent 90%. There’s always been left and right in the hand basket. There’s always been deaths for no good reasons and there’s always been humanitarians for only good reasons.

I don’t know exactly when the hand basket began to fill with the “real” us and them. The “real” me or you. The “real” you are also the “other” side. The “real” MY issues are more important than yours.

I don’t know exactly when the 10% of rich, powerful and destructive minority joined their 10% together to take over the hand basket.

Even though the worst are far smaller in numbers, they have their paddles, sails and skis. They have their united goal.

The 90% are using their hands, feet, sticks and all available to them to slow the hand basket. They didn’t see what the 10% had planned for the hand basket. The 90% are separated in the hand basket. They are not working in unison in the hand basket and they are using inferior tools. Of course they are, they never thought they would need quality tools to slow the hand basket.

With the majorities separation, the minority are jointly and meticulously using their covertly designed devices to propel the hand basket. The 90% are dragging useless items and flailing unsynchronized and have no chance of stopping the hand basket in their current state.

Why? Why? Why do the majority in the hand basket seem to be split so clearly into separate groups with each in different areas of the hand basket? Why so little in the middle working together to overtake the minority?

How is it possible for the majority to stop the hand basket’s spiral to hell?

The answer to stopping the hand basket from going to hell is for the 90% in the hand basket to join together. To put aside their small differences and unify.

The 10% are unified in the hand basket. They are unified to do evil, destruction and create turmoil. The minority in the hand basket are using their powerful tools to propel the hand basket towards hell faster and faster and faster. The hand basket has 10% who all have the one intertwined goal of power, wealth and world domination.

Surely the 90% joined can overcome the 10% and stop the hand basket. Is it too late for the hand basket to turn back or even slow down? Has the minority got such a strong hold on power, wealth and firm implementation of their plans for world domination?

What the 90% in the hand basket really need to do is take the paddles, sails and skis from the 10%. Take the power, wealth and eliminate the attempts for world domination.

Only then can the majority in the hand basket pull the hand basket from the tsunami of water, the tornado of wind and the avalanche of snow.

This can only be done if the small groups in the hand basket, the 8% here and the 5% there and 13% hither and the 22% yonder and all others join forces for one common purpose. Take the power, wealth and domination from the minority.

The common purpose of the majority in the hand basket should be to disarm the minority who are hell bent on sending the hand basket hurdling to hell on it’s current course as fast as possible.

As a cohesive and powerful group unit it CAN be done. The 90% in the hand basket can ONLY overcome the minority as a cohesive and powerful group unit.

Only then can this minority who so slyly built up their supplies in the basket and so wisely divided the majority be defeated and the basket stopped on it’s current destination of hell.

Can the 90% who are primarily decent human beings take over the steering and control the speed of the basket?
