Dan Fogelberg, Rest in Peace

It was announced today that my friend, the fabulous songwriter, Dan Fogelberg, died from advanced prostate cancer.

He will be missed.

I hope this serves as a tribute:

Rest well, Dan.

  1. just like his in the 70’s, red white and blue were the colors of the time.  They played Fogelberg all the time on local stations, I’d sing along on my way to ski areas, while riding on the bus to school, I wasn’t in key, I didn’t care, just wanted to sing along with Dan.

We’ll keep him with us till we meet him again.

  2. don’t know what else to say. I wasn’t a ‘buddy’ lately, but he was always nice.

  3. in graduate school in California back in the early 80’s went to see him in concert right after final exams. Turns out it was an acoustic performance. I have always remembered that experience. I just leaned back in my seat, relaxed and let the music take me to another place.

I still listen regularly to “The Innocent Age” cd. The whole things is great – but I LOVE a little known song on there called “The Reach.” Wish I could do a link to the song – but I’ve never found it on video. I’m listening to it now on my itunes – and remembering Dan.

I’m soooo sorry to hear this. I got his first album, the one that he did the whole thing himself-all the instruments… and played it over & over… I got my first car that same year- an old red beetle w/sunroof (handcrank!)& bought a cassette of the album so I could listen to it at the beach- its the only cassette I ever bought new-paid full price for.

I grew up that year, listening to him…or became less naive …
