I managed to finish my story with about 3 minutes to spare.

  1. last night was chaotic and fast paced. Thinking tonight will be the same. Somebody have a glass of high quality vino for me.

this is DianeW’s latest installment in her American Gods story…I really think its a top-notch tale!
If you haven’t seen the first three- Go read them first! Well worth the time!

  2. I don’t know if you ever got  ” The Fast Show” in the States, or whether you watched it if you did. One of the writers and performers is Paul Whitehouse who counts Johnny Depp among his friends since they worked together on a movie – the name of which I forget.

One of his stock characters is Rowley Birkin QC, a whiskey sodden barrister of ill repute and ill syntax. The character’s catchphrase is ” I was very drunk!” A typical Birkin sketch follows:

Now, for the last Fast Show ever made, Johnny Depp agreed to come over and appear in a very rude sketch involving 2 other characters from the show. The thing is, that the last Birkin sketch ever , seemed to me to display an entirely new influence in both script and performance.

I don’t know if it was Depp’s influence, but that sketch differed entirely from all the others. It transcended the norm. The performer of quite funny comedy shorts turned into a great actor of pathos there. Right before my eyes.

And so that I don’t get lynched, (turn down the old folks’ hearing aids) here’s the Depp sketch:

    Suits you…..
