Soapblox Upgrade

Earlier this morning Soapblox upgraded our site and moved us to a new server location.  There is currently a problem with the data on the User pages.  Essays, comments and ratings are not showing up.  I noticed this yesterday when pacified showed me a preview site and he did something to fix it right away.  When I woke up this morning I saw the same thing on our live site and I immediately contacted him about it.  As soon as he gets the message I assure you the problem will be fixed.  All the data is still there.

UPDATE: The User data issue has been resolved.

A new problem seems to be that some people have lost their TU status.  Please post below if you can no longer see the Hidden Comments link.

One of the new features that I have just implemented is using radio buttons for the comment ratings.   I think this is a nice improvement over the drop-down list.  There will be no more inadvertent Wrongs!

The YouTube embed problem has also been fixed.  You no longer have to edit the code to remove these parameters:  name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”

There will also be a change in how the URLs appear.  Any essays prior to this date will still use the old format.

Please report any bugs you notice in Comments.  Hopefully other than the user data problem there won’t be any issues.

  1. I was wondering if those glitches were just on my computer.

One of thing I’ve noticed is that for recommended essays, the “new” comments aren’t showing.

the user pages info – diaries,  comments, and ratings lists?

  2. overnight.

  3. Thanks for the information.

I just had an incident where I attempt to click on a comment and an error page came up, instead.  Sorry, I didn’t save the “words” in the message for you.  Thought of it too late!

The radio buttons should work much better.  No more Edgerizing.  ðŸ˜‰

Are the old hidden comments gone or have I just lost my magical power to see them?

  4. …to the rescue again.  Thanks!

  5. I just changed our Domain name setting to point to the new IP address of the server.  This should propagate out in a few hours or so depending on what part of the world you live in.

I don’t think there will be any interruption but in case the site won’t load that’s what the problem is.

  6. woohoo!  Just a few minutes ago we broke the 4 million mark:

    that’s a lotta cheezburgers!

  7. jeezuz h christ bloody hell.

I never got why would I want to look at the hidden comments. criminy. I cant keep up with the ones that are showin’!

    lol.

Im glad you people understand this shit.

    🙂

  8. only deserved a “3”, but I can’t rate it a “3” because of this fancy “upgrade” of yours, OTB.

    Thanks a lot.

  9. I found a bug in the upgrade.

The tag and rss for 4@4 no longer works.

    It gets squashed to:

    https://www.docudharma.com/tag/4@4

    https://www.docudharma.com/tag/4?feed=rss

The @4 is dropped or confuses it.

The old url for the tag and feed still works, however.

    https://www.docudharma.com/tag.do?tag=4@4

    https://www.docudharma.com/tag.do?tag=4@4&feed=rss

when I hit save with a new essay:

java.sql.SQLException: Incorrect string value: ‘xE2x80x90mod…’ for column ‘extendedText’ at row 1

  10. When I put my browser on the button for pony and hit it, the whole comment “jumps” and doesn’t take the hit — then I hit it again and it takes!!!!!????

Also, the “Seek” feature seems to be missing the options were available before.

  11. but I used to be able to see the hidden comments, and no more. I guess I could post a little more or something… but I never did post much anyway? I thought DD was different? No DK rules? Should I just shut up? Should I post Jabberwocky? I feel so abused… LOL

…but I would love it if I could click on the label rather than the actual button.

  12. is gone.

The first two times I attempted to publish today’s Cafe, I forgot to include a title.  By then, there were two versions in the queue, which I deleted.  It seems to work okay now, except whenever I edit anything (I’ve changed a word or two already), it does not return to the saved version.  I have to open it from the front page instead.

When I click Save, it says:

    Sorry!

We were unable to locate that page. Please return to the front page.

Clicking on the link provided there does not take me to the front page.
