Through the Darkest of Nights: Testament XIX

Every few days over the next several months I will be posting installments of a novel about life, death, war and politics in America since 9/11.  Through the Darkest of Nights is a story of hope, reflection, determination, and redemption.  It is a testament to the progressive values we all believe in, have always defended, and always will defend no matter how long this darkness lasts.  But most of all, it is a search for identity and meaning in an empty world.

Naked and alone we came into exile.  In her dark womb, we did not know our mother’s face; from the prison of her flesh have we come into the unspeakable and incommunicable prison of this earth. Which of us has known his brother?  Which of us has looked into his father’s heart?  Which of us has not remained prison-pent?  Which of us is not forever a stranger and alone?      ~Thomas Wolfe

All installments are available for reading here on Docudharma’s Series page, and also here on Docudharma’s Fiction Page, where refuge from politicians, blogging overload, and one BushCo outrage after another can always be found.

Writing in the Raw: Hey Mrs. Potter, Won’t You Talk to Me?

This Thursday’s Writing in the Raw is sponsored by The Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions, so call them and book a trip to the Netherlands!  Right now!  Tell them Rusty8 sent you and don’t forget to send me a postcard.

Because of the intense subject matter of tonight’s WITR, it is being presented with limited commercial interruption.

I’m a big fan of the Counting Crows, so I want to explain in their defense that the song you are about to hear was written ten years ago, before all the Mrs. Potters in this country began to experience the alarming cognitive/rectal conditions that are the topic of tonight’s WITR . . .

We’ve all seen Mrs. Potters.  They’re everywhere.  The Republican Party is filled with Mrs. Potters who still respect and admire the war criminals, traitors, psychopaths, racists, and thick-skulled idiots of the GOP who’ve been perpetrating fascist hackery in Washington D.C. this entire millennium.  I’m not a neurologist, I’m not a proctologist either, but anyone who has paid any attention at all can verify that the GOP’s Mrs. Potters are experiencing sensory and cognitive difficulties because their heads are firmly lodged up their asses. As one might expect, this condition is acutely impairing their ability to perceive and understand what’s happening beyond the confines of their permanent Republican rectums.

They’re everywhere.

You can never escape from them, Buhdy, you can only move south down the coast.

What I’m Saying

At the risk of being dismissed as a whiner, I expressed some discontent earlier today regarding the invisible novel I’ve been posting here, which has been deluged with invisible reccs and tips by every Docudharma member, as well as by many of their friends, neighbors, and pets with Internet access.

I’ll keep posting this here, but I have to say I’m getting disgusted by the fact that the overwhelming majority of the people here on DD can’t seem to spare 5 minutes of their precious fucking time to read an installment when I post it.

WTF?

They must see these installments, they’re on the recc list twice a week.  I don’t think it would kill them to set aside 5 minutes twice a week to read this.  And if the strain of doing that doesn’t completely incapacitate them, they could maybe even find a crowbar somewhere and pry a fucking tip out of themselves for me.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask, I’m sweating blood writing this novel.
