Destination, Unknown

The paths I`ve taken in my life were mostly without specific destinations & many times specifically without destination.

The following images depict frequent stops leading to a change of course to the next unknown.

What a long strange trip it is.

Enjoy

My Machinations

Freedom Machine,

A before & after set. I took a magazine shot, & manually cleaned it up for a friend who flew these. He is good friends with the man who owns & did a full restoration of it.

The POW patches below this image are ones I created for my friend who was shot down over Germany on his 26th mission.

Patterns

A series on patterns should obviously start with a shot including multiple patterns.

The first one has weathered wood patterns, & a tortoise shell pattern on the snail shell. (ironic)

The wood grain pattern on the knife handle, which has a serrated blade pattern upon which a snail with it`s unusual skin pattern glides, rounds out the first image.

The rest follow in random pattern.

Tropic Monster

A little note for anyone who needs to see things a little differently.

Just turn your head upside down.

This is my last shot of the day.

I got my camera strap wet (I almost dunked the cam), getting as low as possible to the water for a reflection shot.

I couldnt really see in the dark.

The higher plants on the right are tall papyrus.

The weepy looking beauty is a cypress. There are two more smaller ones as you pan left.

The reflection is off of the water, in the salt water spa, located up in the rocks & water falls.

The deja-vu part works this way.

Look at the bottom half of the pic, with residual foam from the jacuzzi jets.

Step one is finished.

Now look at the top pic.

You just deja vu`ed it.

FALL

On the west coast, in Malibu, seasons are ill-defined by time.

In the fall here, the season is often defined by fire, winter, by floods & slides.

At this present moment, fires, rage & devastate the Santa Barbara area.

Santa Anna winds, a defining condition of fall here, are blowing these flames along. Called the “Sundowners”, also, many are anxiously awaiting sundown to see if these winds pick up again. Lets hope not.

Here is what fall is to me here. One of the things about the fires is that they do photoshop the sunsets, more than I could artificially do.

I did include a pic for Andif. Emperor Blenniticus Novembris, from the Fall of the Roman Empire.

Enjoy the fall & I`ll see you next trip.

Nov. 11th- July 4th

Abused by a system that sent this young man into battle, he has devised his own manner in how to deal with fear. He hides it. Deep inside, he knows that if his fear shows, it may spread to other people, who, he is positive would all & forever point at him as the origin.

He must not show what tears at him so he now shows his petaled face, sure that everybody loves flowers. His mother told him so. Here behind the bushes on the edge of the park where he lives, he marvels at the people cheering loud explosions & worries for their safety, having seen the devastation these bombs, bursting in air, cause. He does not comprehend the celebration of independance that shines, reflected on his metal face, positive it could never warm his soul.

Young men like this will be seen more & more as the systematic abuse they have & are enduring starts to bloom . We, who would never use our brothers & sisters like this, are inevitably charged with taking their hand & reassuring them that some one cares. No amount of pills or programs or tests will ever help unless there`s a caring soul to help them along.

The thing that will be difficult will be to make sure these people are not pointed out as the originators of their troubles. There will be many. Please smile at them & be nice. Have a nice day, & count your blessings.

This image I shot at night when while fooling around with the resident skunk, I noticed the light on some statues. I had moved these statues a few days previously & had not yet seen them in the light from the porch. This light was a little behind the statues & a little higher. There were two lights on each side of the porch entry, one red & one green. [Don`t ask].

I went & got a tripod & camera& set up with the camera set at F2.8 & started with a 6 second exposure. I started fooling around with the set-up & went to get a few masks from my collection, & brought along a flashlight. I changed to a 2 second exposure & I would spray the shot with a quick bath of light with the flashlight. This is one of the images from that series. Another image from that series can be seen in a previous post called “DICHOTOMY”

ICE CREAM 911

 2 DSC0048

Today was a special day for me as I picked up my granddaughters for ice cream.

After work, they were hiding behind the door in the entry, & scared me half to death (ya, right) when they jumped out in halloween masks.

We went down into Malibu, for ice cream, & stopped at the memorial to the people who perished on 911.

They had a great time & the memorial was really beautiful.

I was actually surprised at the number of people who`d stopped & parked on the side of the road to enjoy the view over the ocean & sit down to rest, talk, remember etc.

Here is how it felt.

Have a nice day.

You all know I`ve been extremely busy, but I`ll be taking a break, within the next month, & you`ll be seeing more of my images.

Whether that`s a good or bad thing is not up to me to say.

Please click on the main image to see many more images of this day which I will not soon forget.

My girls were a laugh a minute. Their innocence is what keeps me sane, in a real crazy sort of way.

I love them.
