Beginnings

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

For those of you who used your wealth and power for no higher purpose than to plunder and pillage the Earth – the reckoning is coming.

And those of you who used the power of our public airwaves to spread lies and hatred, dividing the people among themselves, to serve no other purpose but that of the greedy and powerful – the reckoning is coming.

And especially for those of you who were chosen by the people, under the sacred principles of democratic self governance, to serve us and, instead, used that power and responsibility bestowed upon you against us – the reckoning is coming.

  1. Turn off your TV. I can smell the lies through the tubes and wires.

    but it’s a popular diary –

so question:  Why hasn’t the “market” taken off this am.  I thought with the R’s win, it would fly.  If it doesn’t improve during day – there’s something for us to chew on here.

  2. For those of you who access one of the premium cable TV packages, Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz, both on MSNBC, are options.  I have not always agreed with them, but compared with just about everyone else on the tube, they are perhaps the best available option.

Internet radio provides quite a few more options.  The following shows are all listed for Pacific Daylight Time:

The San Francisco progressive radio station Green 960 AM offers the following lineup:

6:00 – 9:00 A.M.  — Stephanie Miller, errant daughter of Barry Goldwater’s fomer running mate, Bill Miller.  She recently came “out of the closet”, which, if anything, has only added to her popularity.  Her style of fast-paced humor is not for everyone, but does provide comic relief.

9:00 A.M. – 12:00 noon — Thom Hartmann, cerebral and erudite, resembles the college professor you wish you would have had years ago, he is a great teacher.  His “Brunch with Bernie” (i.e., Bernie Sanders) on Friday mornings is a favorite feature.

12:00 noon – 3:00 P.M. — The wise-cracking Randi Rhodes has an uncanny ability to draw links between commonly known facts that lead one to obvious conclusions that had previously gone unrecognized.  Her NYC roots are quite apparent, so if you hate the Big Apple, her style may not be to your liking.

6:00 – 9:00 P.M. — For those of you who prefer the visceral approach, Mike Malloy has an unbridled passion unmatched by many other talk show hosts.  Some of my progressive acquaintances describe him as “too angry” for their tastes.

And for the 3:00 — 6:00 P.M. time gap, there is Norman Goldman, a relative newcomer to the talk show world.  A former attorney, he provides some fascinating legal analysis of various issues of our day, explains complex issues in such a way that they are understandable, and has a fire and brimstone delivery that might be exceeded only by Mike Malloy.  You can hear him live on his website or, alternatively, AM-1090 carries his show live at the same time.

Some of you who live in or near large metro areas can hear some of these programs on regular AM radio, but for those who don’t, you can hear all of these on live streaming audio on your computer.  Most provide podcast options and can also be heard on satellite radio.  And you can play the broadcast in the background while surfing the web.

Of all the preceding, Mike Malloy is probably my favorite, followed closely by Thom Hartmann and then Norman Goldman.

Although this show is only available on Saturdays, “Ring of Fire” with David Bender, Bobby Kennedy, Jr., and Mike Papantonio is great as well.  This webpage provides a couple of links where you can hear them live, again for free, on your computer.

These programs can serve as an important reality check and are far less expensive than a visit to a psychiatrist.

  3. like a great weight has been lifted. Turns out nobody likes any of them except the confused elderly and the truly upside down, pig ignorant right wing and the delusional loyalist bots. Most people aren’t this stupid. Fear lost as far as a GOTV meme and the party shed 29 bluedogs. Mean while the WH response to the loud clear voter reaction to the bait and switch Democratic administration was this gem from Obama…

“I think I have been willing to compromise in the past and I will be willing to compromise going forward,” he summarized, vaguely.

vaguely meaning he’s clueless about how much his bamboozle failed and has no way left to parse his back stabbing agenda off as audacious or even pragmatic let alone centrist.. negotiations with the man tan idiot will ensue. The Democrat’s are finished as they will get no CU money, their blew off their coalition and their only  hope/chance to retain power or survive is to become the party that fights for people. What are the odds they will? lol.
