Ok, now what?

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

Everything is getting really blurry now and nothing makes any fuckin’ sense any more.

War is Peace now, poor is rich, the Gulf of Mexico is a never ending domestic supply of oil that will get us off the foreign oil habit, and everything else is upside fuckin’ down too. Or backwards or inside out, at least.

It’s anybody’s bet how long this planet is going to keep letting us do the shit we do before it shakes us off like a bad case of fleas, the ocean and the air are poison, it’s a good bet that some asshole somewhere is planning to start the next war, everybody’s broke, there are no jobs, my school wants to give equal time to the creationist bullshit and wants me to believe that it isn’t bullshit, we can’t even eat fish anymore much less feed multitudes with one, and you want me to pay for all your fuckups.

I’m not as dumb as you think, and you clueless so-called adults really piss me and my friends off, you know that?

Talk to me.

someone should form the Grandkids of Congress Lobby —

    (at least rhetorically)

better yet, the Tomorrow’s Children Coalition.

Someone needs to represent their interests …

who says, the GOP is the Family Values party?

more like the Thugs Values party, if you ask me.

and Dems are in the Co-dependent Party,

    co- to the Thuggery.

  2. (Hedge Fund Managers + U.S. Senators) + Cement Shoes = Plug for Gulf Oil Pipe

    😀

  3. please do let us know what your opinion might be, hmm?

    Har!   ; – )

  4. that I see who have just graduated college. There are so many seeking down to earth meaningful careers in teaching, biology, ecology, and conflict resolution.

Â When non profit local community ventures can compete with the private sector to create jobs then progressivism will be established with credibility. Now it is just a political marketing word and has to be mistrusted.

The opportunities to expand into green technlogy and nature conservation rival the private sector. Many NP’s team up with local businesses to raise money by  cause marketing. Some NP’s administer government programs because they are local.

This is how to discredit the right. It is so much easier to anonymously call someone a Republican asshole or to display your knowledge of the obvious but miss the essential point that electoral politics is a right wing animal and anyone who responds is wasting energy they could expend constructively.

This is nonpartisan, community action, it is not sexy but effective and you get your money’s worth. Unlike the contributions of time and money that you give to the for profit dog fighting enterprise of electoral politics.

I prefer my donations to support people who need it and deserve it rather than the party pundits, pollsters, strategists and apparatchiks.

  5. that such a strategy wouldn’t do any good anyway, at the very least, it could be a morale booster.

As many of us know, Minnesota-based Target had long cultivated a socially conscious public image, but have obviously made a 180-degree turn to the reich. Their Minnesota counterpart Best Buy has followed suit.  Both have made large donations, courtesy of the Citizens United decision by the Supremes, to support an anti-union, gay bashing candidate for Governor of the Gopher State.

The video that follows reputedly captures an “impromptu” demonstration (actually, it looks somewhat rehearsed to me) at a Target store, complete with song and dance to entertain the customers while they are shopping. The video so far has had almost 600,000 views on youtube.

So, here’s the idea. Perhaps an organization (such as MoveOn.org) could generate even more interest by setting aside a portion of the donations that come in to hold a contest. Individuals or groups of people could submit a video of a demonstration that they staged at a Target or Best Buy store, which will appear on the organization’s website, as well as on youtube.

There would be a time limit on submissions.  once that date has been reached, viewers could then vote for their favorite video of a demonstration. The winner would then receive the prize.

If corporations are going to be treated as citizens (actually, as super-citizens), then they need to be held accountable by their customers for their actions.

This starts out a little slow, but picks up momentum before long…

the earth is overheating fast because you broke it, and maybe 200 million people are going to be left alive on this planet by the end of this century, and you probably won’t be one of them.
