“Accentuating the Positive” in Iraq

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

When gunmen ambushed Iraqi security checkpoints in a large Sunni neighborhood of Baghdad last Thursday, terrorized residents said the attack reminded them of the worst days of the war. The United States military said it was unaware of any gunfighting.

On Sunday, when The Associated Press reported that July was the worst month for Iraqi casualties in more than two years, the United States military denied it. Yes, Iraqis are still dying, the American command said, but in strikingly fewer numbers than Iraqi government ministries have told the news media.

As American forces exit Iraq, with only 50,000 to remain by the end of this month and all to be withdrawn in a year, the American military command is accentuating the positive.

According to UNHCR estimates, over 4.7 million Iraqis have been displaced since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.  The humanitarian crisis in Iraq is the worst in the Middle East since Palestinians were displaced in 1948. In FY 2007, the U.S. resettled 1608 Iraqi refugees.

  2. You know the one in which they “lit up” a bunch of civilians with cameras and stuff.

Oh, but before that it was this puppy chucking Marine.

And, before that it was this place, what name now, I forget Abu Grahib something, something about rendition and this whole network of CIA snatch and grap terrorists complete with ranking numbers that all of the CT community documented as being killed/captured or dismissed as irrelevant multiple times over multiple years?

I mean, really, this is a world of Facebooking/ Twittering dweebs, most completely content with masturbating in the orgasmatron of lamestream media.  It might sound crass, it might sound inhumane but a large part of it is completely true.

Like the Berlin Wall before it, how long will it take to tear down the network of Iraq walls/checkpoints/security zones.

  3. I guess Baghdad Bob is directing the White House, State department, and Pentagon’s PR efforts these days.
