Stop being such a purity troll, Al Gore

(10 am. – promoted by ek hornbeck)

Don’t have time to post too much now, might post a longer diary about this later, but for now:

Al Gore and his group, the Alliance for Climate Protection, think President Obama’s decision to pursue offshore oil drilling is a bad idea and they’re letting him know.

In a recent tweet, Gore appeared to endorse a statement released by the Alliance’s CEO Maggie L. Fox in which she criticized Obama’s drilling plan, saying that it “continues our reliance on dirty fossil fuels.”

“We cannot simply drill our way to energy security,” Fox wrote. “Americans are demanding a clean energy future that goes beyond drilling and incentivizes the technologies that are critical to building a 21st-century clean energy economy. What we need now is presidential leadership that drives comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation that caps harmful carbon pollution, puts America back to work, ends our reliance on foreign oil and keeps us safe.”

I love quick hits at OL for this very reason.  Often don’t have the time to invest in writing something up indepth, but it is so “remarkable” to me in some way that I want to share it.  Quick Hits are wonderful for this, and people don’t even have to feel lazy or guilty.  Another nice thing about this place is that people don’t beat you.

OK, get out your to do lists Ek and Buhdy.  Give us your blessings or pick a delivery date.

  2. Run for president in 12′, whether as a Dem or whatever.

  3. I think that his decision to back up CEO Fox of the Alliance for Climate Protection, in her condemnation of The Obamination’s support of an environmentally foolish, economically negligible industry give-a-way, to be spot on. In fact, I would like him to come out with more than just a tweet confirming his support of the CEO of his organization, he should be on every TV show he can get on, loudly, and repeatedly, condemning Obamination’s decision to open up drilling in some of the most inhospitable waters on the face of the planet.

Lest anyone say the coast off of Florida or Virginia isn’t dangerous, don’t forget that he is also calling for drilling platforms in the North Pacific, the Bering Sea and the Arctic Ocean north of the Beaufort Sea.

Idiotic….no other word suffices. Go to your TV and watch “The Deadliest Catch”, the show about the crab fishermen in the Bering Sea. Combine the sea conditions you will see on the show with one of the world’s most active earthquake regions, and the recipe for disaster is complete.

The upside of such dangerous drilling? A $0.05/gal. difference at the pumps, in about 15 years.

Once again Obamination is proving himself to be a pawn of the money changers and rip-off artists.

    Be well.
