Irony and Hypocricy:
Daily Kos is Pure and True, other blogs are icky. Other blogs say bad things. I must mount my high horse and say bad things about them! Otherwise, there will be a Bad Things Gap! And we must ignore all the people dying in Afghanistan and for lack of Health Care, we must pretend that foreclosures and homelessness don’t exist, we must forget that there are starving children and that our planet is dying….none of THOSE things are important!
What is important is smearing other blogs….and if there is not enough real evidence to smear them, let’s throw in some nasty pictures of Barack, just to get the outrage pumped and the blood up…..even though those images have NO relation to the Evile Other blogs at all.
What is important is that we get to feel pure and holy, we get to clutch our pearls and righteously condemn Others, for THEIR sins. While assiduously ignoring the beam in our own eye.
THAT will broaden our coalition!
What is important is that Others are not Pure enough, not good enough, not loyal enough, not obsequious enough, what is important is that Others think and act differently than ME, and my ego cannot rest until I have righteously condemned them for the sin of not being me sufficiently.
That’s how you get people to join together for victory!
Issues? Coalition? EFFECTIVENESS???
Who cares!
We have PEARLS THAT NEED CLUTCHING, dammit!
You can’t worry about the ISSUES when there are people out there who need condemnation for thinking differently than us!!!!
The Dems are selling out and alienating the base again? Heck lets join in! We don’t do ANYTHING else, we don’t use the community for activism or to make a difference or to pressure politicians anymore, so HEY! Let’s use it to condemn other blogs!
Because that is how you persuade people, and the diary section at Dkos is all about persuasion now, not activism. So let’s persuade people by posting offensive images of Obama and pretend the people we don’t like did that! (Instead of it being us that is posting offensive images)
All while pretending to talk about a broad coalition.
While clutching our pearls and looking down our noses and condemning everyone ELSE in that coalition.
For not being pure enough to join US.
Because THAT is what coalition means right?
Coalition means that WE are pure and righteous and everyone else sucks. So if they want to join OUR coalition, they have to do what we say, say what we say, and think what we think. Any deviation from that and we will give you ANOTHER strong talking to!
So just stop it, just STFU like we keep telling you. Everything is FINE, he’s got this! IGNORE all of that pesky reality stuff and issues and suffering and sing along! The Choir sounds great don’t it?
Maybe then, if you sing loud enough…and PURE enough…maybe then we will let you into OUR coalition.
Maybe. If we happen to like you that day. And if our pearls are not riding up.

The irony is… just … astonishing.
… foolish to be serious at this point when the drama and gossip value of this event is outperforming the insurance company numbers in the stock market … but what the heck.
I read a diary in the diversosphere a while back, couple or so years ago. Maybe it was a comment here, I don’t remember. And I read variations of this from several different people and am condensing it into one comment.
A woman of color was speaking about a magazine she worked on, how the white publishers didn’t get the women of color onboard until after they had set everything up — her point being that if you wait until everything is set up before you begin to share power, then you’ll never get true diversity.
In the “white-o-sphere,” this is what has happened.
To separate out the strands of honest view based on real diversity from personal pique when it comes to that diary would take someone a lot more savvy than me.
Because of that lopsidedness, there really wasn’t any other way to break through the doors of the whiteosphere than doing what De did — and it had to be done IN the whiteosphere. I disagree with pretty much everything she wrote. I have seen far better diaries slamming the whiteosphere at Daily Kos and they have either scrolled down the rec list with no comments or turned into a flame war.
What’s different here is that De and the folks at Black Kos — especially Dopper, who for years did this work pretty much by himself — have solidified an integrated group into a power base, and that is probably a good thing, ultimately. It’s not a power base I can join for the reasons I’ve elaborated elsewhere.
So coalition? Where’s the safe place to meet? Which power base? Here? There?
I did think of the sig line as well when I started seeing this situation unfold.
And as I said earlier, it really is time for us to draw our own lines in the sand and not hide behind fake civility. I’m sick of that.

There is a real crisis of confidence in government, and Obama et al better figure that out fast and deliver some real change.

Kind of undercuts Markos performance and message about the netroots on Face the Nation. They don’t have any concepts of democracy let alone coalitions and are the ‘enemy’ they seek to destroy any advocacy they feel is undermining their Messiah. They are a scary cowardly mob who will not be content until all voices and advocacy is stopped. They are Dalecks who have been programmed to search out and destroy all opposition to their master. Why are they allowed to stay at dkos and spew their hateful garbage.

I excused myself for the last year that “at least there’s someone left who will relentlessly push reason against deception and sloppy thinking.” Someone to defend the honor of those I see brutally and unfairly handled.
I see now, just at this moment, that I’ve been giving myself an excuse to remain in a twisted and doomed relationship.
A relationship were “liberal” and “progressive” are pejoratives.
A relationship that brings right wing hit squads, as coordinated as any Republican dirty tricksters I’ve ever seen, routinely assassinate characters of people they want to shut up.
A relationship were I’m supposed to cheer because there’s 42% in favor, and only 58% opposed.
I admit there is a Higher Situation outside of republican/democrat, left and right conventional frames, and it calls all adults capable of doing so to gather in sane discourse.
I do not complain about my past choices, and am grateful, as a writer, that for the first time in my life I can honestly apply “gobsmacked” to my condition.
Somewhere recently I saw something here about knocking DKos being a bannable offense. If I have committed such offense, I beg forgiveness with a warning.

What do you expect from a site that bans any discussion that WTC7’s collapse was a controlled demolition. The faux rationale is that extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence – unless it is the official Bush-Cheney theory. The official theory of the NIST that fire of contents in WTC7 caused a collapse that included free fall collapse for at least a couple of seconds. This is a very, very, very extraordinary claim (e.g., it had never happened before 9/11 and never since), and there ain’t squat in terms of scientific evidence to back it up.
If DK had some balls, they would revise their 6+ year old rule banning discussion of WTC7, in light of the fact that NISTs final report is scientific fraud, and that over 1,000 architects and engineers through Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth have signed a petition that there should be a new and truly independent investigation of the collapse of all three WTC buildings. Who has better analysis, a thousand architects and engineers who have reviewed all the latest evidence on WTC7 or DK rule makers who haven’t reviewed anything since the ban on this was implemented after 9/11. DK stands for Don’t Know.
It was principle that united those people. A refusal to be told to shut up and take it. “Sit in the Back of the bus for a while, Boy so the President can pass state mandated separate but equal facilities. It’s a foot in the door…”
