Some Folks on the Left Got a Little Excited

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

In an interview last week with Michael Smerconish, The Undecider said, “Winning the election is just the start.  Victory in an election wasn’t the change that we sought.”

I don’t know what change you sought, Barack, but letting the losers of the election dictate policy is not the change we sought.  That’s innovative change, no doubt about it, but it’s not change anyone who voted for you can believe in.

Philip Elliot . . .

That election came with Obama’s promise of the government insurance option, a provision that Obama’s team now calls “preferred” but not mandatory.  Obama declined to call it a deal breaker.  He said “the press got excited and some folks on the left got a little excited” when he and top administration aides made statements indicating that a publicly run health insurance option was just one of several alternatives.

Since then, Obama has faced increasing criticism from his left flank.  “And even though some White House advisers seem to have forgotten, the reason the public option has become central to reform is simple: We’re fed up with the insurance companies and we need real accountability for them,” liberal MoveOn.org said in a message sent to its 5 million members. “They’ve had decades to fix the problems with our health care system, but they haven’t done it.”

One caller to Smerconish’s program said he sensed the administration was making a misstep. “I’m getting a little ticked off that it feels like the knees are bucklin’ a little bit,” said the caller who identified himself as Joe. “You have an overwhelming majority in both the House and the Senate, and you own the whole shooting match.  It’s very frustrating to watch you try and compromise with a lot of these people who aren’t willing to compromise with you.”

Joe doesn’t seem to understand that Obama has this all under control . . .

Joe is one of those folks on the left who’s gotten a little excited, but that’s simply because he’s too stupid to grasp the brilliance of Obama’s fiendishly clever Wile E. Coyote Strategy ©. As this C-Span animation clearly demonstrates, that strategy is working flawlessly, Obama’s going to catch that Bipartisan Roadrunner any day now . . .

Beep.  Beep.

Well . . . OK . . . Obama’s Wile E. Coyote Strategy © might need a little adjustment yet, maybe some fine tuning here and there, but even though there’s no reason to get excited, instant gratification demanders like Joe will probably get even more unreasonable and fuck things up for everybody at DailyCoyote by posting hopping mad diaries filled with anti-Obama diatribes, which as we all know is terribly irresponsible because purist crap like that always makes everyone on the Left ever since Socrates look bad.

But as we have seen time and time again, the best and brightest at DailyCoyote will forgive those misguided wretches, as they always do, and will be even more determined to “win” this fight, confident in their assurance that Obama will not falter, he will not fail, he will not rest until he gets his Acme Health Care Reform bill passed, so he can move on and get his Acme Banking Reform bill and Acme Immigration Reform bill and the next five Acme Plan for Victory in Afghanistan funding bills passed.

I should have invested in Acme.  I could have made a fortune on the dems.

But they still got that dry Acme powder.  I figure it will end up in a museum some day, still dry as a bone, with a label about the dangers of hesitation.

  2. I really, really do.

He’s going to pull a multidimensional rabbit out of an invisible hat floating in thin air or vacuuum any day now.

    You just watch!

  6. CUP OF STFU, YOU AND GLEEN GREENWALD AND KRUGMAN AND SLINKERWINK AND NYCEVE AND ESPECIALLY THAT REALLY DESTRUCTIVE JANE HAMPSHER. JUST GIVE HIM A YEAR FOR FUCK SAKE! WE CANNOT BE SERIOUS PEOPLE FROM A SERIOUS MOVEMENT IF WE ACTUALLY ARE PROGRESSIVE AND WE CRITICIZE THE COYOTE. YOU ARE BEING INTELLECTUALLY DISHONEST.

‘Give them AT LEAST A FUCKING YEAR before flamethrowing Obama.  Otherwise I seriously don’t know what they think they’re accomplishing.’

All this because Glenn Greenwald wrote a column about secrecy amongst the villagers. The crazy part being that the main sin of Glenn Greenwald was that he wrote favorably about some of  Ron Paul’s ideas during the election season. As hard to deal with a a tea bagger and about as reality based. Join the cult Rusty or STFU. Sadly I cannot debate with you as you can’t keep up with me intellectually.
