Transparency, you say? Pshaw!

“What Happens If Obama Loses The Left?” Let’s reflect for the moment on this astounding and baffling political strategy that seems to be at work here: In the words of Leon Panetta (who never should have been CIA head, another matter), it’s “Almost” as if Obama wants to be a one-term president. Of course he starts with a tremendous lead on the opposition and they seem to have nothing to offer now or in the future.BUT Obama is alienating his base, not just disappointing them as Bush/Rove did to the Christian right, but outright, deliberately rubbing our noses in it? And to what countervailing benefit? No one in the conservative minority will ever embrace him for it and no one in the disinterested middle will even notice what he’s doing! He’s gaining no new support, while pushing away his most ardent support. This isn’t cynical, this is f..ng stupid!

Does he actually believe the shit his minions are fighting for? rendition, torture, wiretapping, enhanced warfare, stay in Iraq, keep DADT, defend DoMA? Force feed the Wall Street pigs? This is frankly scary, who knows what’s next with this crowd…this is unprecedented!

Well at least we end the day with a glimmer of sanity, the breaking news that he will extend federal benefits to same sex federal employee couples. Perhaps sanity has filtered through in some small measure at last? Maybe David Axelrod read Budhydharma’s post today?
