Hello, all. I am new here so please put up with me getting the buttons and conventions correct. All that I really have to say tonight is thanks for the welcome, and please talk me through the details of the site, and of the conventions of being a proper citizen here. I have an obligation to post a guest spot at DailyKos Thursday, but I wonder if it would be OK to post it here and cross post it there. It has to do with a medical thing. Any guidance is welcome, since I am new here.

cross-posting at dkos is pretty normal around here. What isn’t normal are nasty comments and intolerance for opposing points of view. This is an eclectic site requiring no vows of loyalty to Democrats, Obama, or anything else. Hello and welcome.

Others have “explained” nicely, dont have much to add. Be aware that it is a much slower pace here, so dont be offput if your Essays dont get a lot of attention in a rapid fire kind of way.

I think you’ll find that people here, even if they disagree, are nice about it.

I will try to be faithful to the “be nice” doctrine. I appreciate the eclectic part, because if you have read much of what I write, you know that I cover everything from Benj. Franklin to coins (I found a nice one yesterday) to science (that I think that I do rather well) to politics (that I do not think that I do very well) to satire (for which I am rarely successful, the my paradoy of Lost with Palin, Limbaugh, Hannity, McCain et al seemed to pretty popular, and personal stuff which I might be better off not communicating. Just expect the unexpected, and I will try to be as respectful and as nice as possible
