More of the same old same old from the Obama Administration.

Obama Blocks List of Visitors to White House

The Obama administration is fighting to block access to names of visitors to the White House, taking up the Bush administration argument that a president doesn’t have to reveal who comes calling to influence policy decisions.

Despite President Barack Obama’s pledge to introduce a new era of transparency to Washington, and despite two rulings by a federal judge that the records are public, the Secret Service has denied’s request for the names of all White House visitors from Jan. 20 to the present. It also denied a narrower request by the nonpartisan watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which sought logs of visits by executives of coal companies.

Updated: CREW says it filed suit Tuesday against the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Secret Service. Here’s a copy of CREW’s complaint.

“We are deeply disappointed,” said CREW attorney Anne L. Weismann, “that the Obama administration is following the same anti-transparency policy as the Bush administration when it comes to White House visitor records. Refusing to let the public know who visits the White House is not the action of a pro-transparency, pro-accountability administration.”

Enjoy your new overlords.  Same as the old overlords.

Oh, but I know, Obama is really trying!   He’s just up against such pressure and such opposition like a 67% approval rating and both houses of Congress.

  1. There’s nothing in the street

    Looks any different to me

And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye

And the parting on the left

Is now the parting on the right

And the beards have all grown longer overnight

Then I’ll get on my knees and pray

    We don’t get fooled again

  2. You seem to expect him to fulfill any campaign promise “right away”, like in the first 10% of his term. Clearly, as Dick Cheney likes to say, all the promises will be taken care of in the period going from July 2012 to October 2012 if needed, otherwise in December 2016 or possibly January 2017 or, since there’ll be no re-election campaign, never.

President Obama is a genius chess-master who is rope-a-doping the political world. He’s cleverly using the unconstitutional abuses from the Bush years to confuse the corporate puppets. Furthermore, I’ll tell you a true story….

When Obama named Emanuel his Chief of Staff I was warned that it wasn’t a good sign. I said it meant he was going to twist arms and it was good.

When he named Summers and Geithner as his economic team I was warned it wasn’t a good sign. I said it will be Obama’s policies that will be put in place and these guys have experience to know how to make it happen.

When Gene Robinson’s mike didn’t work I thought that was fishy but possible.

I told my wife I would give Obama 6 months before looking at him critically. Now I see it only took 4. I was already disappointed when that email came in yesterday. For some reason that was the final straw. There is simply no rational explanation for asking for money in order for him to do his job effectively.

I still believe he’s better than any Republican and probably, although I’m not 100% sure…but close to it, better than Hillary Clinton. And I know that President Kucinich would have already been impeached.

    In short…ugh.

  3. Obama could actually be worse than McCain would have been.  I’m not seeing any proof otherwise at this point.

under review! Despite recent court decisions to the contrary, now Obama needs this to be re-litigated? The only transparency in this administration is that they are transparently phony!

    Look for the exit.

Not now, after you eliminate debt.

Get a place to live.  A vehicle.  Some guns.  Some long-term food.

Yeah, I know it sounds bad.

I’m simply making recommendations for your welfare.
