Can we scream any louder?

(8 am. – promoted by ek hornbeck)

Frankly, I’m at my wits end with politicians, the media, and idiots who listen to both of them.

Can I scream this any louder than the mass email I sent to every journalist, paper, and politician I could?

How did America get to the point where politicians, from both political Parties, become so insulated from the public they claim to want to serve?  From what I have witnessed these past decades are people who view “public service” as a gravy train where they prostitute themselves out to whatever special interest will donate to the campaign fund.  Truly, at what point in our long history as a nation did our politicians go from being statesmen who worked for the people to standing on the proverbial street corner selling their vote to whoever pays the most?

There is, as far as I know, not a politician out there who isn’t given, on the taxpayer’s dime, the best health care.  But, when it comes to giving the citizen that same health care, out of our own taxes, suddenly, these same politicians state we can’t afford it as a state, or, as a nation.  If our nation cannot afford to give the citizens good, affordable, health care, then we surely cannot afford to keep pampering these politicians with health care.

As predatory lenders in South Carolina financially rape the citizens with 300% interest rates, our politicians suddenly can’t be bothered to vote in the best interest of the people as the industry pads their campaign funds.  Of course, when was the last time you met a politician who had to worry about living paycheck to paycheck?  That, you simply don’t see.  What you see are politicians whose spouses run a company that gets funding pushed their way.  Their kids are lobbyists working for some special interest group as their politician parent votes in favor of that special interest.  And that is simply the corruption that our government, our politicians, have devolved into.

South Carolina is in debt.  California is in debt.  Our nation is in debt.  The politicians spend our tax dollars, then they borrow money and spend even more.  But, when it comes election time, it was the OTHER Party that got us into the trouble.  It was that OTHER politician who isn’t a God-fearing Christian.  Just vote them back into office again and it will all change.  But it doesn’t change.  As our politicians tout a “Pay to Play” system of governance, when the bill comes due for their whoring to special interests, it is education that gets cut, it is our prison guards who get laid off, it is the money going to the firefighters, law enforcement, and medical programs that get hit the hardest.  Then, as our politicians gut our public education, they have the chutzpah to tell us that our public education is failing our state, so, our tax dollars should be spent so that those who can afford private schools, which are overwhelmingly religious schools, can get paid to send their kids to them.   The same two factors keep coming into play; the politician gets lots of money from special interest groups, then tries to spend our tax dollars to help those groups.  When the PUBLIC, at large, want the same benefits our politicians vote for themselves, we simply can’t have that, it costs too much!  What our tax dollars are good for, however, is to fund THEIR pensions.  THEIR pay raise.  So that the religious can get a tax break, on our taxes, so their kids can get private schooling.  You would think that that would be bad enough.  You would think that the public would see when a politician has continually scammed them and that politician would be voted out of office.  But, no.  You get the same politicians elected cycle after cycle as our state, and other states, sink further and further.

But, it has gotten so much worse.  Because a group of terrorists attacked our country, suddenly, we are actually debating on whether we should be allowed to torture people!

A South Carolina Trooper pulled a woman out of car, cussing at her, threw her to the ground, gun drawn, because the woman refused to pull over.  The citizens of South Carolina went nuts.  That was abuse!  That was uncalled for!  But, these same people who couldn’t believe that a woman in South Carolina was treated that harshly, suddenly believe it’s ok to TORTURE people.  And, they believe that because these same politicians that whore themselves out to the highest bidder told them so.  They believe it because media personalities have turned our Constitution and our laws into a “he said/she said” spat, not unlike two people on an episode of Judge Judy.

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, along with their bought and paid for lawyers, decided that they could torture people.  President Obama now believes that he should be able to imprison people simply because they MIGHT do us harm.  No due process.  No trial.  No Constitution.  No rules other than what these politicians believe they should invoke because they say so.  And if the public doesn’t understand where this is leading in the future, they haven’t been paying attention for the past 40 years.

Richard Nixon had some guys break into the office of the opposition Party and was forced to resign his office.  But, he got pardoned.  Ronald Reagan’s administration gave us the Iran-Contra scandal.  But, those individuals got pardoned.  Bill Clinton got a blowjob.  He was IMPEACHED.  George W. Bush authorized TORTURE, and, we are DEBATING whether we SHOULD torture!  Now we have President Obama wanting to incarcerate people simply because they MIGHT do harm.  We are losing the very thing that make us American’s.  The Constitution.  You DO remember that, don’t you?   That people would be secure and not subject to unreasonable search and seizure?  That you would have a speedy trial?  That you would be assured of Due Process?  The right to confront your accuser in a court of law?

While our media masturbates themselves over a cigarette tax, we as a nation are witnessing the impending death of rights guaranteed to us for over 200 years!  While we debate whether we should TORTURE people like it was the 1400’s, our politicians, those same individuals who vote against our own interests, are cheerleading the death of the very thing that made our nation great and different.

What hell happened to people?  At what point did you lose your senses?

Our country wouldn’t even BE in this situation if George W. Bush and Dick Cheney hadn’t have had their lawyers write up bogus memos authorizing the TORTURE of people.  They did.  And now, because people have some masturbation fantasy of the show “24”, we are now at the point where even if you don’t DO anything, you could wind up in prison with no trial, no charges, simply locked up and the key tossed away.  What do you think “preventative detention” MEANS?  And at what point does it go from merely being “terrorists” to being ANYONE who simply disagrees with our government?  Is it the next President?  20 years from now as precedent after precedent becomes entrenched?  How much that we give up NOW comes back to haunt us in the future?  For Gods sake, Nixon went from a mere breaking and entering to Obama wanting to lock people up without trial, without charge, without due process, with no rights whatsoever.  All because NOBODY was ever held to account.  NOBODY was ever given prison sentences.  So, each new crime gets larger and larger.  Still, we as a nation have never said enough is enough.  If torturing people isn’t too far.  If putting people into prison because they MIGHT do something isn’t too far.

What IS too far besides having an officer cuss at you because you wouldn’t pull over when our courts have ruled that tasering someone 19 times wasn’t “excessive”?  That is what is being to done HERE in our country to US, the citizen.  And you want to DEBATE torturing people?  Get tasered 19 times.  Get waterboarded.  Have electricity shot into your body or be drowned — what is the difference?

I don’t even recognize my country anymore…

  1. Exactly.

  2. there seems little left to say.

  3. As a DFH in my early 60’s, my political ranting started a long time ago: many , many issues ago.  Issues that were too big to ignore, but were ignored. Issues that were depricatingly swept aside in the name of “healing the nation”, or “in defense of our values”, or the ever ready excuse of “WHAT IS HASPPENING TO MY FAVORITE ACTOR/ACTRESS AND HER/HIS AFFAIR WITH BLAH BLAH BL;AH.aweljkha cfahfs fucking blah”

Damn caps lock! I was going to go back and re-type that, but as it is possibly the biggest reason every thing gets swept under the rug, I think I will leave it the way that it is.

And now we have President Obamination, The Great Pacifer, President Binky. Even though he was after Kucinich, after Edwards, after Richardson, and after Dodd in my preferences, I still had hopes of transparency and the rule of law being re-established. Well Mr. Noble-Nose-In-The_Air has deflated any and all hopes of representative government continuing in this country. When a past president of the Harvard Law Review pulls the kind of crap that he has vis-a-vis habeous corpus, preventative detention, torture, military tribunals, and the whole “America as Empire” bullshit, all I can do is cry.

And this is when my anger turns to tears.

    I am reduced to this.

You stand up tall, pretend you’re strong,

in the hopes that you will be.

Like the ones that tried, like the ones that died,

trying to set the angel in us free.

    And they are waiting for,

    And they are waiting for,

And they are waiting for a miracle.

  4. Especially this part:

Now we have President Obama wanting to incarcerate people simply because they MIGHT do harm. […] Nixon went from a mere breaking and entering to Obama wanting to lock people up without trial, without charge, without due process, with no rights whatsoever.  All because NOBODY was ever held to account.  NOBODY was ever given prison sentences.  So, each new crime gets larger and larger.

Of course, anyone who actually did bellow that would get arrested. Exactly the way Democratic U.S. Senator Max Baucus had those doctors and nurses locked up two weeks ago.

Yeah sure, we have “freedom of speech.” They’ll let us whisper Bullshit. Anyone has the guts to yell Bullshit though, here come the cops.

    Righteous rant, Michael.
