Ode To Republicanism

Fuck You.

America is not/ well, no longer/ your Country Club

We are not here to make your life easier

By hiding in the shadows to make you comfortable

While you loot our economy

And send us to war

Making us into torturers

While stealing the rights

Our forefathers fought and died for

So casually, with no skin in the game

Just because you can, from your towers of entrenched power

Built on the backs of the poor and downtrodden

And the regular folks who you conned into trust

You have sunken the ship of state

Even as you deny that the waters are rising

You have stolen all the lifeboats

And now walk across our nearly submerged heads to get to them

While wondering where all those screams are coming from

As we drown in the flood your greed

You frantically cast about

For someone beside yourself to blame

But as you now are finding out

Your power can’t protect your tribe

From the vary reality you constructed

In a vain attempt to protect yourself from your own selfishness.

Incompetent, selfish, and greedy

Intolerant, hateful, and needy

If you were us, you would kill you

Because destruction is all that you know

Instead we will merely ignore all your screams

As you have ignored ours for so long

Your privilege will no longer protect you

From the world you have made for us all

And your howls will go mostly unheeded

As you rightfully reap what you’ve sown

You can try to hold on to your ‘riches’

But the world is passing you by

  2. Well done!

  3. Well. Titanic is one movie that comes to mind.

and this, one of my favorite movie quote/scenes…

Barbossa: So you expect to leave me standing on some beach with nothing but a name and your word it’s the one I need and watch you sail away on my ship?

Jack Sparrow: No. I expect to leave you standing on some beach with absolutely no name at all, watching me sail away on my ship and then I’ll shout the name back to you. Savvy?

Barbossa: But that still leaves us with the problem of me standing on some beach with naught but a name and your word it’s the one I need.

Jack Sparrow: Of the two of us I am the only one who hasn’t committed mutiny, therefore my word is the one we’ll be trusting. Although, I suppose I should be thanking you because in fact, if you hadn’t betrayed me and left me to die, I would have an equal share in that curse same as you.

    [bites into an apple]

Jack Sparrow: Funny ol’ world, innit?

    [offers him an apple]

  4. of the psychology of it all.

When I watch Republicans these days, I can’t help but think of my fundamentalist right wing family. I’ve always seen their world view as a house of cards. They have to guard each card religiously (he-he) because if one goes – the whole thing crashes.

These days when I hear the Republicans talking on tv, I hear that same kind of desperation with the ideas they’re clinging too. Even in the face of such monumental failure, they can’t let go and question anything. They’d rather fail both operationally and politically than reconsider. There’s no way they can survive as a party with that kind of insanity.

Especially how you repeated it on each of the next 36 lines. 🙂

  5. Roses are red,

    Violets are blue,

The world may have passed some Republicans by,

    But not you-know-who!

  6. wounded elephants, though, IMHO.  This diary shows they’re not happy campers and they seem to be getting crazier by the day:

“…Literally, I had just read the following quote from Chuck Norris’ site, as cited by DHinMI in a comment:…”

“…For those losing hope, and others wanting to rekindle the patriotic fires of early America, I encourage you to join Fox News’ Glenn Beck, me and millions of people across the country in the live telecast, “We Surround Them,” on Friday afternoon (March 13 at 5 p.m. ET, 4 p.m. CT and 2 p.m. PST). Thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation. You can host or attend a viewing party by going to Glenn’s website. My wife Gena and I will be hosting one from our Texas ranch, in which we’ve invited many family members, friends and law enforcement to join us. It’s our way of saying “We’re united, we’re tired of the corruption, and we’re not going to take it anymore!“…

This poetry stuff is not such a bad gig.  All it requires is telling the truth.
