My debate take…

You know… call me old fashioned.  Call me a man.  Call me whatever you want.

But, in this independents eyes, neither McCain or Obama won.

I’m sorry, but, there are times to stand up and be a man.

McCain pledged.  Pledged.  To hit Obama on the Ayres issue.  Did he?  No.  In fact, when the moderator brought up Ayers, McCain ran from the issue as fast as he could.

Obama?  He had ample opportunity.  Ample, I say.  To slap down John McCain.  He didn’t have to bring it up; it was put there for him.  He didn’t have to focus on it; it was the opening of a lifetime.  All he had to do was take that “jack slap” when it presented itself.  Did he?  No.

I’m sorry.  When the question was, “what makes your running mate better than the “other guys” running mate” came up, the answer for Obama was a slam dunk:  “My running mate has decades of experience dealing with foreign policy issues that doesn’t include a layover in Ireland or looking at Russia through binoculars”.

Did he take it?  No.

When John McCain got the chance to talk about William Ayers, did he?  No.  He flat said, he didn’t WANT to talk about Ayers.  Really?  Isn’t that the ONLY thing your campaign has been talking about?  Until, that is, you are on national television in a debate?  And, AFTER you promised TO talk about it?

Democrats ARE going to vote for Obama… no matter what.

Republicans ARE going to vote for McCain… no matter what.

It is, and has been, the independent vote who decides elections.

Today, the independent vote includes conservatives who got tired of the bullshit doled out by the GOP.  You know what, spinning facts is one thing… lying flat out to our faces… that is another thing entirely.

Neither person showed that they have the stones to fight.  That, when the opportunity opens, they can take that jab and stick it.

Does this mean I long for the smearing days when people wore purple heart band-aids?  Not at all.  That was almost, and I say almost because the GOP found new ways to hit bottom, the bottom of the barrel.  But, when the opening comes up, you jab.  You have to.  It’s there begging for it.  It is one of those “D’oH” moments!  And neither candidate could do it.  And Barack had PLENTY of chances, no doubt.

The Democratic Party has been called wimps, and, for good reason; they just don’t know how, or, cannot, will not, walk into a fight with the GOP.  Barack hasn’t done it, nor, will he.

The Republicans have been called, rightfully so, fear and smear mongers; it is all they know.  And yet, as much as the McCain campaign has done it at rallies, McCain himself couldn’t do it to Barack’s face, even after vowing to do so.

Who won?  Neither.  Barack failed to attack when the opportunity was there and McCain refused to after vowing to do so.

All the public got was another debate of talking points without either showing they knew what a fight was…

  1. Obama is a shit candidate.  Please pardon the profanity, but that’s what he is.  If he actually becomes president, it’ll be only because McCain is so stupid he couldn’t even cheat his way into office like the shrub did – twice.
