Bush’s Legacy: The End of War?

Yeah yeah, I know, and I will even laugh along with you. Humans not warring against each other? Hahahaha! As long as there are tree branches and rocks to hit each other over the head with….or we evolve….there will never be an end to war.

Howz dis, The End Of Imperialism? Naw, Empire will happen again, sometime, somewhere down the road. Ok, one more shot… The End Of Foreign Adventurism, temporarily. Maybe. Until, as history will remember it, if there is still someone writing history, the Great Resource Wars of the 21st Century?

The point being, that after the Soviet Empire went broke in Afghanistan and collapsed, and the Bush Empire went broke in Iraq and Afghanistan and collapsed(?), Superpowers (what is left of them) MAY (if we are incredibly lucky) learn their lesson. Lest we forget(and it is OUR job to make sure no one forgets) the current worldwide financial crisis IS a direct result of Bush’s and the Neo-cons brief  American Empire. If we were not (by some estimates) spending up to 3 trillion dollars on Iraq and Afghanistan, our economy would not be in shambles. If ‘we’ didn’t have a Ponzi scheme economy going to give the illusion of prosperity for the last 6-8 years, support for the war would have evaporated much sooner. Neither the American people or Congress would have allowed those trillions to be spent. If not for the housing bubble propping up the house of cards, we would not have had the ability to borrow trillions of dollars. And while we are not forgetting things, let us not forget that we have not yet paid for these wars, the bills will come due.

China (and everybody else that has financed our Imperialism) has stopped loaning us money. They have taken away the war heroin that America has been shooting up by taking away the ability to pay for it. And….they own us now. The Chinese Godless Commies only have to call in all the money that America has borrowed from them to end/destroy the American economy, the world economy. George Bush and the Republican Rubber Stampers has handed world economy to the Chinese on a platter. The Chinese, if they need or even want it, have an end game. We don’t. The Republicans have mortgaged the future of America to the Chinese…to the Godless Communists! And destroyed Americas moral authority in the bargain.

China is in by far the best position to play the trump card that George has handed them. Who will be hurt more by the destruction of the world economy, America or China? Who has better survivability, if it comes to that kind of crunch? Sure it would end their economy, as we know it, but if you think about the ramifications for them, they are not fatal, just incredibly painful. In an apocalyptic end game, they would survive, America wouldn’t. Not the America we know. It wouldn’t be the China they know either, but a totalitarian government with essentially free labor and little regard for the well being of its people has far more flexibility and adaptability. The current leaders may fall, but China wouldn’t. They have the resources to keep functioning, we don’t. And perhaps most importantly, they would still have the resources to wage war, we wouldn’t.

Except for Nukular war, as George and Sarah would say.

But back to the point, who will finance, who will pay for Americas next war? Who will loan us the money (cause we sure don’t have it) to invade another country? How do we pay for it?

In the midst of all the financial angst, think about this for a moment. In order to achieve the stated objective of Bin Laden, in his own words…

H/t Think Progress

All that we have to do is to send two Mujahedin to the farthest point East to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al-Qa’ida in order to make the generals race there to cause America to suffer human economic and political losses without their achieving for it anything of note other than some benefits to their private companies. …….

So we are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. […]

And even more dangerous and bitter for America is that the Mujahedin recently forced Bush to resort to emergency funds to continue the fight in Afghanistan and Iraq which is evidence of the success of the bleed-until-bankruptcy plan with Allah’s permission… And it all shows that the real loser is… you. It’s the American people and their economy.

….Bush has bankrupted America and delivered into the mercy of foreign powers.

To put it as succinctly as possible in terms that even Republicans can understand: Bush has sold control of the American economy to our ideological enemies, the Communists, in order to EXACTLY fulfill the objectives of our other enemy, Islamofascist terrorists.

Chew on that for awhile, you allegedly more patriotic Republican clowns.

Republicans are just too fucking stupid to be in charge of ANYTHING.

after the “war” on drugs, and the “war” on poverty, and the “war” on terror… all 3 of which made those three things grow drastically instead of eradicating them… that we don’t react to the bush years with a “war” on ignorance.

Because that would really be an ignornant thing to do, and could cause real serious problems.

    ducks, hides head… etc.

    Buhdy…

Much of the national debt in in China’s hands. Just think what would happen if all of a sudden, China decides to split and leaves the US in charge of taking care of it all? How screwed will we be then? Is that even a remote possibility? Maybe. But that would be the end of it all IMO. Wait and see I guess.

we are in greater peril of more war than ever.  If there is a depression, war will be used as a way of “clearing the books.”  “Legal and enforceable contracts” i.e., debts, have a way of being dissolved when war comes.  War with China would serve just such a purpose.  Thank G that Bush will not likely be in power to see that happen.

A study of the true underlying bases for war would be interesting.  I’m betting that bad debt, unfair trade and commodity and other imbalances are a better explanation for war than ideology.

  2. …I just can’t see it, though I try.  It’s just…China is a modern capitalist state of great power.  They aren’t going to light themselves on fire just to piss us off or even make us go toasty.   They will find new, more prosperous alliances though.

Also, like, are they really our ideological enemy? Isn’t tolitarian capitalism the new black and stuff?

Seriously though…here’s an idea…from a spaced out noneconomist :}  What if bubbles effectively represent the productive capacity of an exponentially growing population?  So things like the current trade/debt bubble with China has actually sort of…started to keep pace with the people actually in the world?  It would make sense that Americans lose much of their standard of living.

  3. The irony of bringing up that Osama video, from just before the last election, is that he stated honestly and candidly what he was going to do, and nobody paid any heed to what the man said! So here we are four years later in exactly the position he said we’d be in.

Now Obama wants to chase Osama down- too late bro! The damage is done and we have LOST. Our military is spent, our treasure is gone, our youth are dead or crippled (without proper care) and our economy is in tatters. We LOST, George Bush LOST, the GOP LOST, the neocons LOST. Let us be sure to place the blame squarely on those who have, once again, LOST a war. Nixon LOST in Vietnam, Bush LOST in Iraq/Afghanistan. The GOP is the party of LOSERS who cannot keep us safe, are not strong on defense, who do not support our troops.

And the Chinese economy is very well tied into ours and the rest of the consumer world at this point, and they stand to lose too if the ships sinks.

  4. and sadly, for a moment I just dazedly nodded my head.

The horrific damage done to this country and the world by the neocons, the theocons, and the all greed all the time corporatecons will take generations to undo, if it can ever be undone.  Yet they actually still have the nerve  and arrogance to try to blame others for the terrible consequences of their actions.  They are still too full of hubris to be on their knees begging for forgiveness, as they should be, IMHO.

  5. I know, but I needed to share this, from military wives.  It deserves to go viral, imho:

  6. $660 billion.

    Added during Carter’s four years:

    $337 billion.

    Added during Reagan’s eight years:

    $1.6 trillion.

    During Bush 41’s four years:

    $1.6 trillion.

    During Clinton’s eight years:

    $1.5 trillion.

During Bush 43’s seven years, nine months:

    $4.5 trillion.

Portion of the $9.6 trillion in national debt added during Republican presidencies of the past 32 years: $7.7 trillion. Percentage during Bush 41’s term: 80%.

Really China and other countries have been left holding the bag of worthless securities Wall Street fradulently sold to them. So they asked Lord Paulson to pay up thus the rescue package was born. Well, it’s a little more complex than that of course. Lord Paulson will make money for his Dukedom (Goldman Sachs) and a few other players and put U.S. Banking in the hands of a few friends… but that is another story.

  7. …of the now dead unitary, sole-mega-superpower, something new is emerging.

Medvedev visits Sarkozy proclaiming the need for a new structure and balance of world leadership.  He calls for a multi polar structure of world power.

Angela Merkel was in Russia a week ago, shoring up relations.  These are just 2 of many examples of a shift in power and alliances which might, perhaps, be beneficial.

It certainly seems preferable to U.S. Empire uber alles!
