It’s About McCain!

With both thanks and apologies to Glen Greenwald and Brave New Films, a video mashup I hope you will enjoy.

And remember boys and girls, it’s not about Palin…

The-Real-McCain

Now, as a Sunday video mashup bonus, I give you this somewhat unrelated item:

Too Fackin’ Funny – Cheney bashes Russia for ‘brutality’ in Georgia

Not my usual, but just too funny to pass up.

This just in – US VP, idiot or hypocrite?  World undecided.  [Pssst world!  He’s all that and more.]

Note:  Everything in brackets is my own.

(CNN) — Vice President Dick Cheney harshly criticized Russia’s military incursion into Georgia on Saturday, calling the action “an affront to civilized standards.”

[As a well known affront to civilized standards himself, his opinion is considered expert.]

Speaking to a group of business and political leaders in Italy, Cheney faulted Russia for invading the former Soviet republic, killing civilians and displacing thousands of Georgians, and failing to abide by a ceasefire agreement from the European Union.

[“These are not some brown-skinned asiatics,” he said, “these are Europeans!”]

(snip)

“For brutality against a neighbor is simply the latest in a succession of troublesome and unhelpful actions by the Russian government.”

[“Not just everyone can go around invading sovereign nations willy-nilly,” he said.]

The statements come a day after the U.S. Navy command ship USS Whitney arrived in the Georgian port of Poti in what the United States called a humanitarian mission.

[You can take it from the number two compassionate conservative in the whole U S of A.]

Russian leaders have said the fact that a military vessel is being used in a relief mission raises concerns.

[Aww go on, you can trust us.]

(snip)

“Differing views on the status of these two areas, within the sovereign borders of the Georgian democracy, cannot justify a sudden and violent incursion by Russia,” he said. “This much, at a minimum, should be understood by all people of good will in the year 2008.”

[When asked if he knew any people of goodwill, he just sneered and said, “Go fuck yerself!”]

And the 25 percenters lap this crap from McCain up like he carried it down from a mountaintop…

  1. however he has if you ask me, pulled a Bush in drag out from under some frozen rock and tried to pump up his ‘populist’ appeal by throwing this redneck barracuda out front to shore up his inability to be effective against Obama’s talents and charisma. Bush’s speech writer wrote her speech, she is being coached by neocons in foreign policy. She’s a distraction an attempt to capture the ‘change’ and disgust with the last 8 years. Stick it to McCain but realize she is an appendage which is for the extremist fundie part of their unholy coalition. Why in the hell does every election rest in these idiot’s hands?

  2. The web site electoral-vote has a chart they produced from intrade on where the betting trading money is going in this election by state.

Click on the first link and scroll down to the heading “Intrade State Contracts Predict an Obama Win.” Right now its Obama 311 electoral votes to McCain 227.

And intrade has been pretty steady lately with a 60/40 betting on Obama to win the election.

I hope this isn’t too OT, but I thought folks might enjoy seeing this.

  3. …I’m going to ask to live in a relatively reasonable country.

  4. Take a shot of your favorite stuff every time McCain says in a speech “my friends” or mentions being a POW you will just be completely polluted for the rest of the campaign.

  5. we’ve got to keep the heat on for some sort of radical change in America and the world regardless of who becomes President…

    Go after McCain. Not Palin

Sarah Palin makes John McCain look even older than he is. And he seemed more than willing to play that part on Thursday night. By the time he slogged through his nearly 50-minute acceptance speech – longer even than Barack Obama’s – you half-expected some brazen younger Republican (Mitt Romney, perhaps?) to dash onstage to give him a gold watch and the bum’s rush.

       [snip…]

Given the actuarial odds that could make Palin our 45th president, it would be helpful to know who this mystery woman actually is. Meanwhile, two eternal axioms of our politics remain in place. Americans vote for the top of the ticket, not the bottom. And in judging the top of the ticket, voters look first at the candidates‘ maiden executive decision, their selection of running mates. Whatever we do and don’t know about Palin’s character at this point, there is no ambiguity in what her ascent tells us about McCain’s character and potential presidency.

    Palin-McCain ’08

With Miss Buffalo Chip ready to tighten his shoes and Miss Moose Chip ready to fill his shoes, Long-Gone John marches us forward into the unimaginable future. With a mind that messed, he can’t make this stuff up. Tune out, turn off, vote blip!

Here’s your future in a nutshell: One year from now we’ll still be in Iraq and Afghanistan, Pakistan will be a mess; your tax dollars will be bailing out hedge funds, major banks, major security firms, Fannie, Freddie and the US auto industry; the glaciers and ice caps will be smaller; there will be fewer species; the oil industry will reap record profits; there will be more talk about renewable energy, more talk about better schools and more talk about affordable health care; lobbyists will reach across the aisle to both parties; and last but not least, the rich will get richer.

Whatever you don’t do, never remember this: The future will always be a horizon with a time-line we can believe in!

Not quite up-to-date but you can kind of get the drift of things.

Oh, nearly forgot! Someone will occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and have the title of President of the United States of America and we’ll still have a “two party” system.

  6. A neat piece of work there but difficult to follow some of it with the various tracks running together. Cool idea though and I’ll watch again this afternoon here.

I enjoyed your other YouTube videos and will go back and view them again also. I’ve been making some efforts in that direction also but still very much a rank amateur. This region is full of interesting video subject matter, just day to day life, as you probably will remember. I hope to capture a few bits and pieces of it.

    Peace brother.

.. the message we need to be focusing on in the blogosphere is… do we really want another four years of the same Bush-Cheney crap? Did we forget alredy that McCain said we could be in Iraq for another 100 years? That’s more important. NOT Palin. Let’s focus on the main guy: McCain.  Ignore Palin.
