Our ‘elite’ is broken. Nobody really knows what the fuck they are doing. Nobody really knows the results of what they are doing. And to a certain extent is has to be said, they just don’t care either. They don’t care about us. All they care about is covering their own ass. At our expense. This is out and out Class War, they know, we know it, and the rest of The People seem to waking up to it.
Our financial elites don’t know and don’t care, they are in strict CYA mode, taking breaks only to figure out how to game and leverage the bailout so that they can transfer even more wealth from the taxpayers into their pocket. If things don’t turn out well, they open their Golden Parachutes and go live on a beach in the Caymans and sip rum drinks.
Stupid or evil? Conclusion: it doesn’t matter. We The People get screwed either way.
Our political ‘elite’ are even worse, they have NO clue as to what is going on. They are running around with their hair on fire in super-duper CYA mode, taking breaks only to figure out how this crisis can be maneuvered for political advantage and trying not to piss off their corporate masters, while keeping The People calm enough to not riot after assault piled on assault and insult piled on insult tax even the incredibly resilient somnabulance of Mr. and Mrs. America. As kos points out, they continue to think we are buying this crap. The party is over??? Gimme a fucking break Nancy. You are about to serve the fucking canapes, the party is just getting started. Just because you are buying their bullshit doesn’t mean we buy yours.

The only people who seem to have, well to be getting, a clue are The People, who are finally waking up from their slumber of post 9/11 fear and are looking around and seeing what has been going on and wondering why their ass hurts. It hurts because our ‘elite’ have been screwing them. And each time we get screwed, the ‘elites’ just tell us we have no choice but to trust them. Are they right? Are we at their mercy, no matter how badly they screw up? ARE we just sheep to be shorn by the ‘elite?”
Or will things be different this time?
Too big to fail. What does that mean, really? It means that the system may be damaged or fall apart if we do not do what these ‘elites’ tell us to. The same elites who have failed us so badly, who have created this crisis, who passed the bankruptcy bill to benefit these same bankers, who created the Iraq war, who have created high unemployment, who have created spiraling inflation, who have created the health care crisis, who have created $4 a gallon gas, who have either created or failed to solve ALL of the crises we face as the fabric of the lives of the middle and lower classes unravel before our eyes.
Not because the lower or middle class have done something wrong….but because YOU have. YOU the upper class, the ruling class the ‘elites.’ YOU have fucked this….and everything else up. You. The only thing we have done wrong is trusting you.

All this while the upper class have raked in record profits, enjoyed truly amazing tax breaks and played Russian Roulette with YOUR economy. To them it is a game they can’t lose. To us it is the ability to feed our children. They, I’m sure, have layer upon layer of nifty rationalizations for screwing the lower and middle class, it is after all the human thing to do.
Well, ‘elites,’ it is also the human thing to do to reach a point where your finely crafted bullshit just doesn’t work anymore. The point where things are so bad that the only alternative is to say ‘fuck it, playing by their rules and being well behaved isn’t cutting it.’ And as induced crisis after induced crisis mounts you will have to face what you have wrought, and the backlash from us, The People. We will not be kowtowing to your calls for calm or your imprecations about how destructive a Class War is. We KNOW how destructive it is, because we are the ones getting destroyed.
Let me cut to the chase. The biggest robbery in the history of this country is taking place as you read this. Though no guns are being used, 300 million hostages are being taken. Make no mistake about it: After stealing a half trillion dollars to line the pockets of their war-profiteering backers for the past five years, after lining the pockets of their fellow oilmen to the tune of over a hundred billion dollars in just the last two years, Bush and his cronies — who must soon vacate the White House — are looting the U.S. Treasury of every dollar they can grab. They are swiping as much of the silverware as they can on their way out the door.
No matter what they say, no matter how many scare words they use, they are up to their old tricks of creating fear and confusion in order to make and keep themselves and the upper one percent filthy rich.
Call for calm all you want, feed us your bullshit all you want. The party is over. For you, the ‘elites.’ Maybe not today, and maybe not tomorrow, but soon. As more and more of The People around the world wake up and see what you have done, a revolution is starting to brew. That brew is being cooked all over the world as people start to understand that they are not helpless. That they are NOT at the mercy of the Ruling Class, that there IS another way. As they see others on the internet starting to resist and rebel, The People all over the world will gain strength of purpose and will from the knowledge that the elites do not know what the fuck they are doing. The People will find another way. We have to. You are forcing us to.

But we are not the dumb beasts you take us for and the Class War won’t be fought on your terms, their will be no revolution in the streets as you would prefer so that you can shoot us down. This is a revolution of the mind, a revolution of the spirit, a revolution of The People.
The People are about to choose change, in the form of President Obama. And we won’t stop there. You will do everything in your power to defeat that change, we know that. But The People for the first time have their own power, the power to communicate to each other, a power we have never had before. We the lower and middle classes that you have fleeced for so long will not be lying back down so you can shear us again.
There will be more crises, hell they are lined up to the horizon and beyond. Each of the crises that you have created and have no solution for will wake up more of The People. Will motivate them, will UN-silence them. We can feel how nervous you are now, how much you are trying to reassure us. But it is not going to work, because what you propose is not going to work. Continued rule by a Ruling Elite won’t work, because you elites….aren’t. It is our turn. If not now, sooner than you would like, I guarantee. The jig is almost up.
The party is over all right, and this time, we are NOT going to be the ones cleaning up YOUR mess.

There will be a tomorrow. I’m thinking that trying to rescue yesterday isn’t a priority except to those who benefit from the inequality.
And re-read Brunner’s book. And recommend Brunner’s book.
