One 72 Year Old, Post Cancerous, PTSD’d Heartbeat Away from the Presidency

Joh McCain turns seventy two today. Older than Reagan when he won. When……..IF………. he finishes his second term he will be eighty years old. He has had several operations for cancer, refuses to release his medical records for full scutiny, and in case you hadn’t heard, was a tortured POW, which does not speak well to his mental or physical health. Plus he is a type A personality with a temper. Who shows serious signs already of being disconnected from reality. All of this speaks to his ability to survive complete his term of office. By all reports one of the most stress filled jobs in the world. It may be “cruel” or “insensitive” to bring this up, but there has never been an older and less healthy candidate elected to the Hot Seat.

If all of his health problems overcome him and he either expires from the stress or old age, or even if he is just rendered physically or mentally incompetent…..here is the person who will become President of the United States of America.

Lest I be accused of sexism, here is the wiki bio of our potential next President:

Palin born in Idaho and raised in Alaska. In 1984, she was the runner-up in the Miss Alaska pageant (she was disqualified for wearing a two-piece swimsuit), receiving a scholarship that allowed her to attend the University of Idaho, where she received a degree in journalism. After working as a sports reporter at an Anchorage television station, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, City Council from 1992 to 1996, was elected mayor of Wasilla (population 5,470 in 2000) in 1996, and ran unsuccessfully for Lieutenant Governor in 2002.

It is not her gender that is of interest (other than as a gross and transparent appeal to PUMA’s) but her total lack of qualification to become the Leader of the Free World. In cased you missed it in her bio, before becoming governor just two years ago, her highest political office was  mayor of Wasilla (population 5,470 in 2000).

Wow!

    I don’t THINK so!

    Smells like desperation to me!

  2. what I said in today’s open thread:

I think I just realized why Republicans are so against affirmative action.

When they wanted a young VP candidate – we got Dan Quayle

When they wanted an African American on the Supreme Court – we got Clarence Thomas

When they wanted a woman VP candidate – we got Sarah Palin

The good old white boys just can’t seem to contemplate competency when they go into that scary land of “other.”

  3. i didnt know there were any brunettes left in the wingnut corral….i thought bottle blonde was part of the uniform….

was the master of the vacant look?

  4. …Palin is actually a pretty impressive pick, considering what options McCain actually had.  Besides the Wooten scandal, she’s had a fairly impressive term so far.

That being said, I don’t really see her adding anything to McCain politically.

  5. I don’t know anything about Wasilla.  But I do know about the local county seat, Hudson, New York, which had a population of 7,524 in 2000, about 50% larger than Wasilla, Alaska.  Anybody who thinks that being a mayor of such a place, or being on its city council is a credential for further office is just plain crazy.

I have no idea what the Alaska Gov might know about foreign policy, the GWoTtm, the housing crisis, trade issues, and on and on and on.  Maybe she has no ideas. Nobody else seems to know what she thinks, either.

And to argue that she’s the “most qualified” to be VP has an eery, bizarre echo of the nomination of Clarence Thomas.

A question about the Republicans: Are they nuts??  Do they really think I’m that stupid??

  6. sorry I couldn’t find a bikini pic…

…in fact, everything aside but this:

she was disqualified for wearing a two-piece swimsuit

Haven’t we learned anything about electing people who hold a blatant disregard for the rules?

she’s just another Bush/Cheney.  As soon as she got it, she abused her executive power on a personal vendetta.

  7. Man arrested in slashing of Obama campaigner

According to police, the unidentified suspect approached and began to shout slurs and insults at the campaigner, who listened, thanked the man for his views and asked him to leave.

The angry man complied, but quickly returned and pulled out a knife and slashed the victim in the face.

This apparently happened with Police nearby!!!

    Be Careful Folks, Real Careful!!!

  8. Hates gays, anti-choice ect ect? I guess she approves of science as long as it involves mining and drilling in Alaska…

  9. reach Hillary voters he chooses this woman (he wasn’t attempting to reach Republicans, there aren’t enough left to get him elected)

As I read it, Hillary supporters are insulted by the choice.

  10. …they’re hesitant to smack down Palin & be accused of sexism, so here–let me do it for you:

She’s much more inexperienced than Obama.

She’s involved in a scandal accusing her of abuse of power in using her position to try to get her sister’s husband (a state trooper) fired.

She doesn’t even know what a VP does yet agreed to run for VP anyway:

“[A]s for that V.P. talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day?

Miss Congeniality teams up with cranky McPOW as Commander-in-Chief/ Commander-in-Chief-in-waiting.  Ms. Congeniality vs. Mr. Foreign Policy Experience…I bet she even thinks that the US should help Iraq & South Africa so that Americans can locate us on map

I’ve got more, but will start with that.

  11. Yah.

  13. Via Huffington post Palin vs. Polar Bears:

“…whether polar bears should be listed under the Endangered Species Act. I strongly believe that adding them to the list is the wrong move at this time…In fact, there is insufficient evidence that polar bears are in danger of becoming extinct within the foreseeable future..”

(No matter if stupid nerdy scientists say that   Polar Bear (will be) ‘extinct in 100 years’ )

Oh boy:  via this Kos Diary Newsweek quotes Palin saying she “didn’t like Clinton’s ‘whining'”:

“…Palin talked about what women expect from women leaders…her feelings about Sen. Hillary Clinton…(She said she felt kind of bad she couldn’t support a woman, but she didn’t like Clinton’s “whining.”)

Actual quote from update in the Kos Diary:

“She says “any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism…I think, man, that doesn’t do us any good, women in politics, women in general, wanting to progress this country.”

  14. Then she’s qualified to be President.  Maybe not great and hefty in the qualifications area, but qualified nonetheless.

just threw the game.  My only question is… how conscious was he at the time?

  15. …HAPPY BIRTHDAY, buhdy!

Even though you gave us notice in “50” that you wouldn’t be here today, I’m glad you couldn’t stay away with this breaking news and your unique take on the break.  Hope you’re having fun now!
