The Height of Hubris Reached! Iraq wants US troops out. Bush sez NO!

Amazing!

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki wants the U.S. to begin a timetable for removing our military from their country, and yet our Stubborn-Profits-Over-American-Lives-Or-The-Wishes-Of-A-Soverign-Nation Decider doesn’t want to do that.  He doesn’t AGREE!

Not only does he NOT want to do what they want him to do, I assure you he WILL NOT do it.

Politically it would kill what remains of the Republican Party smokescreen if Bush agreed to a “TIMETABLE” for withdrawl of our Military in an election year, as the opposition Democratic Party has been calling for all along.

From AP:

Iraqis want US pullout timeline

Iraq’s prime minister said yesterday his country wants some type of timetable for a withdrawal of American troops included in the deal the two countries are negotiating.

It was the first time that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has explicitly and publicly called for a withdrawal timetable – an idea opposed by President Bush.

He offered no details. But his national security adviser, Mouwaffak al-Rubaie, told the Associated Press that the government is proposing a timetable conditioned on the ability of Iraqi forces to provide security.

The White House said it did not believe Maliki was proposing a rigid timeline for US troop withdrawals.

“Any agreement would not have any hard timetables for withdrawal, but could include the desire by the US and Iraq to withdraw troops based on conditions on the ground,” National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe said.

 My emphasis

Really?  The White House doesn’t BELIEVE that al-Maliki was proposing a rigid timeline for troop withdrawls?  It makes me wonder if the surge is going so poorly right now that the line for the BAT Phone from the Deciders office to the al-Maliki Cave has been cut by terrarrists!  I mean, if the White House doesn’t believe that is what P.M. al-Maliki is saying, couldn’t they just call and ask?  Then they wouldn’t have to surmise and could give US a straight answer.  I know, way too easy.

Moving right along, what is this shit being spouted by Gordon Johndroe (broken record, again) that ONLY Conditions On The Groundâ„¢ would allow the U.S. to withdraw troops?  Is Gordo telling us that even if the Iraqi Government told us today that they want all of the troops out of Iraq by the First Tuesday in November, 2008 that our current Administration would tell a Soverign Nation to fuck off?  Because that’s what I think he is telling us, don’t you?

“I know that Prime Minister al-Maliki has said that he doesn’t want a precipitous withdrawal because of the security consequences,” Johndroe said in Toyako, Japan, where President Bush is attending the G-8 summit.

Maliki said in a meeting with Arab diplomats in Abu Dhabi that his country also has proposed a short-term interim memorandum of agreement rather than the more formal status of forces agreement the two sides have been negotiating.

The memorandum “now on the table” includes a formula for the withdrawal of US troops, he said.

“The goal is to end the presence [of foreign troops],” Maliki said.

No Tony Blair is this al-Maliki.  Bush’s lapdog?  Nope!  In a precarious position caught between the Neo-Con’s and a Hard Place?  Oh Yeah!  I love the fact that Bush’s glorious Security Agreement with Iraq is in the midst of being scuttled as well!  Now there is a “memorandum” that is short term and includes the withdrawl of U.S. Military.

You can see al-Maliki trying to throw off the strong-arm tactics of BushCo and stand up as the people of his country are asking, no DEMANDING that he do.  WOW!  A leader……

If Democrats in Congress DON’T start beating this information like a drum, they are truly beyond hope.  The American people need to know that the Iraqi’s WANT us to leave and OUR supposed Leader is more interested in OIL and a MIDDLE EASTERN Military Base than he is in doing what the American people, or every bit as importantly, the Iraqi Government and their people want.  No leader here.  Just a strong-man dictatorial bully.

The pinnacle of hubris has been reached.  BushCo be thy name.

Where does the power lie?  With US voters?  With the sovereign country of Iraq?  With the correct moral choice?  Or with multi-national corporations projecting the next quarter?  We’ll be able to judge by the Dems’ actions.

never intended to.  Remember they gave up bases in Saudi Arabia so the Saudis would consent to the war?  Need the bases built in Iraq.  Also, remember they spent billions building that one base that is the size of the vatican?

Not getting out now or ever.  I’ll take money on it.

  1. Bush thinks the Iraqis are just as stupid as Americans, and will treat them as badly as us.

He won’t trust them to evaluate conditions on their own ground as long as that ground has oil under it.

By “proposing” a timetable, does al-Maliki plan to have something passed in the Iraqi parliament?  How can we stay if a sovereign government PASSES A LAW that says we have to leave?

  2. Bush is simply giving the Iraqis a lesson in how his style of democracy works.  After all, our mission is to bring them democracy.  He pays no attention to the wishes of the American people, so why should he care what Iraqis want?

  3. .. why is it that Congress can’t separate funding for troops and money for Blackwater?  With Blackwater unfunded they’d be gone from Iraq and our troops would HAVE to come home asap.

  4. I guess Bush doesn’t recognize Iraqi’s government of the sovereign nation.

But Bush is gonna’ tell them what to do, anyway!  Hell, might just start bombing them again if they don’t give in his wish to have the military stay in Iraq!

    WHAT A CROCK!
