Clear Evidence of Torture : Now What, Democrats?

The evidence continues to mount. We are rapidly moving from speculation into the territory of hard, clear, indisputable evidence. What happens when the truth comes out…as it is clearly beginning to do? What happens if there is clear evidence that the Bush Administration authorized Torture?

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.): “Some have suggested that detainee abuses committed by U.S. personnel at Abu Ghraib in Iraq and at Guantanamo were the result of a ‘few bad apples’ acting on their own. It would be a lot easier to accept if that were true…”

“Senior officials in the United States government sought out information on aggressive techniques, twisted the law to create the appearance of their legality, and authorized their use against detainees.”

WASHINGTON – A Cambridge-based human rights organization said it has found medical evidence supporting the claims of 11 former detainees who were allegedly tortured while in American custody between 2001 and 2004, in what a former top US military investigator said amounts to evidence of war crimes.

Medical evaluations of the former inmates found injuries consistent with the alleged abuse, including the psychological effects of sensory deprivation and forced nudity as well as signs of “severe physical and sexual assault,” Physicians for Human Rights said in a report scheduled for release today.

The report also alleges that in four of the cases, American health professionals appeared to have been complicit by denying the detainees medical care and observing the abuse but making no effort to stop it – charges that, if true, represent gross violations of medical ethics.

The Congressional Dems are busy trying to legalize your government spying on you and say impeachment is off the table, and the corrupted DOJ won’t enforce subpoenas anyway. So what happens?

Stop and think, Congressional Democrats …if there is clear evidence that torture has been authorized by the President and has been used, and nothing happens…where does that lead us? If Democratic led Congressional Committees develop clear evidence that Torture has been committed…and you, the Democratic leadership STILL refuses to impeach or hold the Bush Administration accountable in any way, what does that make you?

Step back from your political ambitions and power games, take a breath and ask yourself that question.

If there is Clear Evidence of Torture, will you really just ignore it just to win an election?

  2. Pelosi: I say we sweep it under the table and pretend we’re powerless to do anything unless there are more Democrats in Congress. Then in November, if Obama gets in, we’ll say we’re moving on the Bush White House to heal the nation. No one will remember we did nothing by the 2010 elections.

    “I’ll take care of everything.”

“Impeachment is off the table,” said Pelosi, D-Calif. “Democrats are not about getting even. Democrats are about helping people get ahead.”

She used the word “bipartisan” at least eight times in her few minutes before the media, and said that she had promised the president that she would cooperate with him as much as possible.

  3. we know what the Republicans are and what they’ve done.

We know what the Democrats are and what they’re doing.

That leaves us, the ordinary citizens. The real question is, will we continue to buy into the con game?

Or will we start something new of our own?

    Democrats answer:  More, Sir, harder.

First impeach in order to return the engines of government to the hands of law-abiding citizens.  Then place the fate of the criminals in the hands of a system of law and punishment more humane than they deserve.

    This isn’t even complicated.

At what point should we begin rioting?
