Revolution: Next Strike – Political Cocktail Party

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

…just let me say this one more thing… start having political cocktail parties and start getting people thinking about our situation and perhaps this will also enlarge their world view

Have we started a list yet of all of the things that have to

be undone beginning next January????

Refresher paragraph:

From an essay two weeks ago entitled “The Revolution Started Yesterday.  Well YOU Started It!  Political Cocktail Party,” I asked all of you enlightened Dharmites to discuss in the comments of that essay the things you feel could and should be addressed beginning Right Now in order to begin the undoing of all of the twisted and underhanded things that have been visited upon our country and the world by our “Current Criminal Administration“.

In a follow up essay last week entitled “Revolution: First Strike – Political Cocktail Party,” I asked all of you involved Dharmites to answer a poll regarding categories and the related issue items belonging to each category that we have identified as Action Items.

I really didn’t expect any of YOU to have a real opinion, being the wallflowers that we are around here, however, SURPRISE!!  You all decided to open up and be very forthcoming concering your thoughs and feelings about the egrigious bullshit that we Americans are having to deal with due to the Neo-Con plague known as BushCo.

(OK, I’m teasing, of course!)  I know you subvertive SOB’s are all about making it happen!

From the answers we received from you, it sure seemed as if you might just have the beginnings of a cure to this malady that has affected and infected every group of people living in the United States of America.  It has affected most of us in a negative manner.  The 1 percenters that own the country have prospered due to the sacrifices of the 99 percent of the remaining citizens of this country.

I got the distinct feeling that y’all are pissed!

I got the serious feedback that y’all want to do something about it!

We also got the information in the prior poll that we requested from YOU which allows me to ask you super involved Dharmites to once again answer a new poll of those issues that you chose to be the most important and that YOU would like to address RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

We want to attack the final issues that WE agree upon as a group.  We want to make sure that our voices are heard by anyone and everyone that needs to know what the hell is going on in this country, as well as what we want to do to make it better.

This now brings us to the new poll.  This is the last time we are going to ask, so PLEASE, each and every one of us needs to answer and vow to get involved in the aftermath.  Oh, YES.  We do have a plan for the aftermath.

This is OUR Docudharma Action Project!

We are going to make our voices heard and WE are going to make a difference.

I’ll tally up the information that YOU give us, and we will get together in a couple of days to decide how we move forward as a group to REALLY make a difference in our world.

Which of these issues is most important to you, and is something you would work for “outside the blog” to rectify?

Please vote for your top two issues.

Is the Pony/Pie/Hide rating system too cutsie?

We will not stand by quietly even one more day and allow more Republican spitballs to be thrown directly at our heads.

  1. Well, at this point…I AM the majority!

    * Civil Right / Civil Liberties – 1 votes (50%)

    * Get out of Iraq – 1 votes (50%)

Civil Rights / Civil Liberties  covers a lot of other stuff o the poll so I chose that.

Torture and pre-emptive War are already outlawed!

  2. 45 million uninsured.

Stop the war. One million dead.

Save the environment. We all live downstream.

  3. Iraq is the biggest emergency, in my opinion.  Next to that, the Unitary Executive (ignoring congressional subpoenas, etc).  As always, it’s not like everything else on the list is less important.  But the COG plans that they won’t disclose make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

  4. I picked investigations and oversight, and USA to rejoin International Criminal Court (which both in my head encompasses a bunch of other issues on the list..)

I’m with buhdy on this part too….

Torture and pre-emptive War are already outlawed!

I thought mercenaries were illegal too…actually I guess that’s a big part of the problem!  The laws have been ‘reinterpreted’ so many times that I can’t keep track anymore.

  5. when the water’s rising … geez, could you make it harder??? Investigations and oversight, and getting out of Iraq were my picks, but heck — any of them, all of them, and that’s only a partial list!!! How embarrassing is that?

  6. has to be the basis, starting with respect for our Constitution and extending to those who hold differing positions.  I believe the worst thing the rethugs have done to this country is teaching people that if you have a bare majority you have no need to respect the minority.  Our Constitution was written to provide respect for the minority, something the ‘thugs had to destroy in order to keep their “permanent majority”.  That they had to destroy the Constitution to achieve it didn’t seem to matter to them.  As much as it pains me to do so I have to treat those ‘thugs with respect in order to preserve a civil society.  It’s not that they deserve it, it is because I am civilized.  I will not stoop to their level and thus participate in the further destruction of our country.

Not gone though are the now culturally embedded fascist principles that will put the US into third world status.  Having been fooled so many times now Obama and his undefined “change” is yet another Manchurian.

  8. That’s right. Everything.

Sometimes, I think of the things that are f*cked up.  This is an exhausting, long list.  It runs from Iraq and Katrina to the $4.399/gallon I paid today for fuel oil for my furnace and the $3.939/gallon I paid today for gas (regular).  The list is interminable.  It has so much stuff on it that I’ve forgotten most of the items.  It makes me want to bang my head on the wall.

OK.  So you want to know which issues I would rank as the MOST f*cked up.  Well, I cannot.  First, they’re all interconnected.  You think my gas bill would be like this without Iraq?  You think Immigration would be this way without NAFTA?  You think there’d be torture if there weren’t global warming.  Let’s connect all the dots.

And second, there comes a time in almost every saloon crawl when you I get the idea that I would really like to beat the snot out of everybody.  Because they deserve it.  And, folks, it’s like that with the neocons.  There.  I said it.  We need to kick their butts on every single issue, on every single thing that they have f*cked up.  This is an exhausting prospect.  You need a ten page, single space list of the things they’ve done so you can remember them all.  But, be still my beating heart, it will be a wonderful thing to pummel them.

They decide what we see and hear, and how that little bit is treated. In its place, wide-open democracy to decide and to oversee mass-reach content. The Board of Directors become us instead of people interlocking with the military/finance/chemical/medical complex.

You do that, every other thing falls into place, becomes doable with less effort and less time. Don’t do that, and a fraction of things get changed that should, and at much cost and time.

    2nd Choice:

What’s a nice synonym for “purge”?

Pentagon, Intel agencies, Executive Branch personnel, Courts… anyone with a loyalty to anything that is not their oath to impartially defend the Constitution has to find a new career path.

  9. hey masslass & brobin – I’m still planning to add a little graphic in the side bar for your project.  How about something like this …?

Do you want the text to say “political cocktail party” instead of “political cocktail” or something else?  I can swap out the flag too.  Let me know – I can easily modify it.
