Targeted By Psychopaths

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

For 26 years Don Siegelman served the people of Alabama with distinction as Secretary of State, as Attorney General, as Lieutenant Governor, and as Governor.  His life of public service and accomplishment is a testament to everything that is noble in the American spirit:

Don Siegelman was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1946, where he grew up. His mother worked as a beautician until her late 70s and his father worked in a music store until he got fired after suffering heart attacks. “I saw him cry because he thought he was bringing shame to his family,” Siegelman said.

Don went to the University of Alabama where he served as the President of the Student Government Association. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1968, and from Georgetown University School of Law in 1972 and studied International Law at Oxford University in Oxford, England from 1972 to 1973. He served 18 months in the Air National Guard and worked in the Washington office of U.S. Rep. Allard Lowenstein, D-N.Y.  While in law school at Georgetown, Siegelman met his expenses by working as an officer in the United States Capitol Police.

Before he was targeted by Rovian psychopaths, prosecuted by Rovian psychopaths, and imprisoned by Rovian psychopaths, Don Siegelman told the people of Alabama, “I was drawn into public service because I believe in the people of this state. All I ever wanted to do was to work to make this state a better place.”

Don Siegelman is not in a better place today.

THIS is where he is:

Don Siegelman’s daughter Dana:

Our family grows more and more outraged with each revelation showing that – for 8 years – my father has been targeted for political reasons -. America should never lose sight of the tragic fact that while the world is just now discovering the corrupt tactics used by the Justice Department in their pursuit of Don Siegelman, our Dad is in a Federal Prison where he has been for eight months. He has not been allowed to be free while he appeals his case and he remains unable to appeal his conviction because there is no trial transcript – even though his trial ended over 600 days ago.

Pat Leahy isn’t outraged.

Senator Leahy

But if HIS pampered Beltway ass was here . . .

I suspect he would be outraged.

Dana Siegelman:

The new revelations by “60 minutes” sit on top of the mountain of evidence already in existence that shows the Justice Department illegally targeted my father. Testimony before the House Judiciary Committee showed that the prosecutors in Alabama were not going to prosecute my father but were told by the Justice Department to do whatever it took to bring Dad down. Adam Zagorin at TIME Magazine reported that during the investigation, prosecutors discovered – and ignored – evidence against a Republican US Senator and Alabama’s Republican Attorney General. Most egregious in this episode is the fact that the Justice Department officials and investigators involved in that investigation continued to pursue Dad in the face of their blatant conflicts of interest that should have removed them from the case. In the Siegelman case and in other Alabama cases, affidavits and information has come to light showing that investigators threatened, intimidated, and coached witnesses to incriminate Don Siegelman. The revelations in the “60 Minutes” report cries out for an independent investigation of this case and the immediate release of my Dad.

Elmer Fudd isn’t outraged.

He knows he has to be VEWY, VEWY QUIET about this, he doesn’t want to end up HERE:

Dana Siegelman:

My family’s question to the Congress is “how much evidence will be enough?” The US Attorney apparatus in Alabama is corrupted and only an outside, independent investigation will right this grievous wrong.

Don’t expect any help from this complicit coward, Dana:

John Conyers

No mountain of evidence has been enough, is enough, or ever will be enough to shame Conyers into helping your father or any other victim of these fascist RePug psychopaths.

Dana Siegelman:

Had the US Attorneys in this case followed the rule of law and the code of conduct for US Attorneys, there is no reason to believe that my Father would have ever ended up in a federal courtroom – much less in a prison cell. The question that needs to be answered is did the prosecutors and the Department of Justice violate the law in pursuit of my Dad, and if so why is my father still in prison?

Your father is still in prison, Dana, because obscene criminals control the government, and Nancy Pelosi has no problem with that:

Dana Siegelman:

Our family implores the Congress to initiate an independent investigation to once and for all expose the crimes of the Justice Department personnel in Alabama and Washington who had a hand in this grave injustice.

Democrats in Congress aren’t going to help you, Dana.

Talk to this guy:

obama

Tell him to put up or shut up.

We’ve heard you talk the talk about hope, Obama.

Over and over again.

Don Siegelman and his family could use some hope right now, Mr. Bringer of Hope.

SO START WALKING THE WALK.

Take your campaign of HOPE to that Satellite Prison Camp in Oakdale, Louisiana.  Walk the walk up to those gates, Obama.  Hold a press conference.  Tell the media, tell the people of Alabama, tell the people of America that Don Siegelman has been locked up in a prison cell because he’s a Democrat.

DO IT.

  2. … bloggoratti would say:

    You nailed it.

    Wow.

  3. I guess I’ve missed the story somewhere along the line and still do not understand why they were so intent on getting Siegleman. What has he done to piss them off? He must know something very damning about the bush gang.

This should serve to alert everyone that there is no justice and if this bunch is out to get someone they will stop at nothing.

  4. SMOOOOUUTCH!

  5. For me, this case absolutely epitomizes and represents the depths to which Bush and the GOP will sink — for ALL to bear witness to.  They set about to “destroy” this man and might very well have succeeded, except for a couple of people whose consciences were bothered.

The complicity in this case from the top, Rove to the Alabama Repugs, shows how deep the corruption runs.

Obama, well, I don’t know — maybe, if he is aware of this case, he will attempt to step in and ask for investigations by Congress.  I agree that he could show some stuff here — how much, I just don’t know — he is not yet there.

This story should be blasted from one end of the country to the other, which shows emphatically the capabilities of absolute evil Bush, et al. and the Repugs can and do perpetrate on others.

  6. …especially the last paragraph…

      “SO START WALKING THE WALK………….

       ……………..DO IT.”

    Heartfelt and important!

  7. have political prisoners.

  8. I have also been following this story like a dog with a bone in its mouth and the one thing I do not get is motive.

In the DOJ probe it was obvious. Here I am a little more confused. All I have seen is that Rove very much wanted him out of the way because he was a very liked Democrat Gov. Well there has to be more to it than that – and I mean Rove et al.

The enormous effort they mounted and finally succeeded in pulling off through every crime imaginable had to be based on something bigger than he was a Democrat in Alabama.

    What am I missing?

  9. nicely done.

is everyone in Congress an accessory?

  10. of the TV was telling, the block out occurred in Arkansas? Hard to keep up with all the shit that comes down while were polikitan to get the latest pol installed. Obama is not a savior but will move the line more then the Hill who is Arkansas politics at it’s finger licken finest, the best that Tyson has to offer. However keep pushing this is really the worst internal crap going down. Roves legacy, the tie that binds and more.
