Bush Appreciation Day

1.19.09, you’re invited. I know a lot of people are already celebrating on Inauguration Day (1.20) but that’s only a half day of Bush in office (weak!). His last full day is 1.19, so really, if we want to show our appreciation for the man and his genius, we owe him the justice of doing it the day before. And then that way when it’s Inauguration Day, we’re already in celebration mode. But hey, since the 19th is a Monday, we should really just make it a whole weekend. That’s what I’m going to do, at least – a Friday-Tuesday thing. That should be enough time to pay tribute to his legacy.

You might be thinking, “Hey Meteoriot, you can’t just make up a holiday,” but actually it’s pretty easy. I made a Facebook event for it, so it’s official. That’s the law*.

January 19, 2009 is the last full day of the Bush administration, so really we ought to take some time to reflect on all the great things he’s done for America. You know, to pay some respect to the man for so faithfully living up to his pledge to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution”. Whether you’re one of those folks who loves the war in Iraq, admired his amazing response to Hurricane Katrina, or are just really grateful for our soaring economy, we all know this man deserves a whole lot of glory! SO much to celebrate!

Did you see the State of the Union address?? WOW! What a brilliant man. We should be so grateful for such honest, tough leadership. He’s gotten so much done. He’s got to be the most bipartisan leader we’ve ever had. A uniter, not a divider. You know, without his steadfast commitment to the war on terror, the rest of the world would probably hate us.

So let’s all devote that day, the very last full day we’ll be blessed with his presence in our nation’s White House, to show how much we appreciate our beloved president, one of the best presidents of the 21st century, George W. Bush. And of course we can keep celebrating all the way into Inauguration Day, until he’s finally out. Because, really, he’s worth a day and a half, or maybe even 2 days. He will be missed.

I know we’re all recovering from the brilliance of the State of the Union address tonight, but it’s not too early to think about what you’re going to do for Bush Appreciation Day. Or Week. Whatever. What’ll you be drinking? Anybody gonna be wild? I’m not sure yet. Probably a lot of rum.

*as we’ve all observed, the law is whatever you want.

Now he’s a man with no address.

The GOP doesn’t want him in their house. The Democrats don’t want him in their house. The whole damn country doesn’t want him in their house.

But give the man some respect. He has his biggest challenge still ahead of him.

    Self-governance:

Or he can always go back to life in a bottle. Were he from a middle class family, he’d probably be staggering through an alley somewhere with nothing but a bottle of cheap wine to keep him warm and help him forget his string of failures, or in prison, or dead by now.
