I have deleted my diary

This is appearing in place of a diary I wrote comparing Bush and the Republicans actions on climate crisis to Hitler.

I do not wish to further offend folks, so I will just say that the recent events surrounding climate crisis have upset me. I did not feel that comparing the NUMBER of deaths that will occur do to conscious inaction on climate crisis to the NUMBER of deaths that Hitler caused was offensive. But then my past was not as affected by Hitlers actions as others. It is a mistake to disrespect the pain associated with peoples heritage in this regard.

For that I apologize.

The news out of Mexico apparently affected me on a deeper level than was wise to write about, at least in that fashion.

    …my comment about e-harmony.

    There goes your sex appeal.

  1. it. Couldn’t be that bad, I just read they repealed Goodwins Law. What news out of Mexico?  The news here is so myopic that were clueless, excepting car chases, athletes and rich sluts.

  2. A keeper, a gem, a beauty.

    it’s about historical accuracy.

hit my peak in quality and usefulness of comments they disappear. I though they were so powerful I was banned for a moment. C’est la publishing.

I accept your wish to not offend people.

Hopefully, people will appreciate the story told by the last 4 generations:

10-15 million killed by the Belgians in the Congo
4 million currently killed in the Congo
    2 million in Cambodia
10 million or more Chinese by the Japanese
    20-30 million Chinese by Mao
    20-30 million by Stalin
5-8 million slavs and Poles by Hitler
1.5 million Armenians by the Turks
.5 million Greeks and Christians by the Turks
    .8 million in Rwanda
    2 million in Nigeria
    2 million in Vietnam…

“Lives deliberately extinguished by politically motivated carnage (in the 20th Century alone)”:
    167,000,000 to 175,000,000

If you could ask any victim anywhere, who doubts they’d tell you their killer is a bad as can be?

The trend continues with Bush. His wishes, his actions, and his inactions are all about death. There was a time when Hitler didn’t have his final totals in, either.

  3. I’m really sorry to see that you deleted your diary.
I don’t quite understand liberals who can’t wrap their heads around free speech.
What’s so threatening about an idea? An image?

I really respect the passion that inspired that image, and the pragmatism that caused you to delete it.

Hope I never have to try to get arts funding outta those folks…

  4. Yeah, that’t the ticket.

but then I’m all for overstating how horrible Bush is, and since we’re in history and only guessing, we don’t know, but I think it’s worse than Hitler ultimately. The future with nuclear weapons from Pakistan, Israel, and the US is …unknown. And then there’s the climate thing…
      See, I caught the sentence:”
And all because George Bush and the 1% of the people who control most of the worlds wealth refuse to address it, refuse to do anything about it….because it would cost them money in the short term.
    ….”
I think Bush and the 1%  represents the New Fascist: think tanks, lawyers, focus groups and we’re way beyond the Klan, the SS, or brownshirts.
Also I think it’s good you deleted, some good people were getting too upset to be productive…I did agree with this also: The problem with comparing anything or anyone else to Hitler is pretty simple. We KNOW what Hitler did….we simply cannot know what the current Ruling Class’s greed and lust for power will do in the future.

    All the best, KenBee

  5. for saying this, I read it, I was not exactly offended, but left feeling a little hollow.

The emotion behind it I could relate to, but somehow … I just wasn’t there with you buhdy. Sorry. As for the deleting, that is personal thing, and I will leave it at that. I suspect I am in the minority on this one. So be it.

  6. the climate change is going to affect us all just one crisis after another on the human and natural scale. The delusion that this is business as usual is insane. how can these bastards make a profit when nature will wipe out their rigs, sweatshops and anything else thats in it’s way? Tragic and stupid, crisis capitalism is delusional.

  7. and all hell breaks loose

    i’m never leavin’ again

  8. Why did you apologize to people who get “offended” by reading the truth?

Hitler IS a piker compared to these BushCo criminals.

If anyone should apologize it’s those sermonizing idiots who insist the Holocaust is some Sacred Icon of Angst that should never be compared to anything at any time in any form by anyone.

Regarding “offended” people of Jewish heritage, losing an ancestor in the Holocaust doesn’t grant them moral superiority over people warning that BushCo is well on its way to inflicting a lethal and permanent planetary holocaust that would make Hitler’s crimes little more than a footnote in the final chapter of human history no one will ever get to write because we’ll all be DEAD.

  9. Wasn’t that what the ruling class aimed for — to establish the situation where the Fourth Estate would self-censor itself?

I respect your empathy and compassion.  Just take a look from another angle.

Yes, we must… “be excellent to each other”…; yet we must also be very discerning about what is hurtful and what needs to be said in the name of truth and, dare I use the term, salvation.

  10. The water has been dropping and the Mexican government has done a really good job and everybody here is giving. Bad news, more rain is comming. Much concern about disease, but some health workers (not enough ) and vaccines are treating the 80,000 in shelters with Hep A and flu vaccines. Today a saw some  of the first shots of the countryside. The rural people are fucked.

Lots of aid is coming, though. Ireland has pledged 1 million euros. The US..crickets.

  11. Climate wars threaten billions

A total of 46 nations and 2.7 billion people are now at high risk of being overwhelmed by armed conflict and war because of climate change. A further 56 countries face political destabilisation, affecting another 1.2 billion individuals.

This stark warning will be outlined by the peace group International Alert in a report, A Climate of Conflict, this week. Much of Africa, Asia and South America will suffer outbreaks of war and social disruption as climate change erodes land, raises seas, melts glaciers and increases storms, it concludes. Even Europe is at risk.

‘Climate change will compound the propensity for violent conflict, which in turn will leave communities poorer and less able to cope with the consequences of climate change,’ the report states.

The numbers will be staggering and will dwarf all prior cataclysmic and catastrophic events in history, including former genocides.

Don’t get caught up in arguing about your metaphors. Instead, let’s do whatever we can to unite in the face of what surely will overwhelm all other issues and considerations. It’s called survival.

  12. I can see why you would delete at dKos, but why here?

Own your thoughts. And never let anyone make you ashamed of them.

    Know what I’m saying?

  13. (assuming, generally, that only an end to the regime of capital accumulation will stop the madness; from Paul Prew’s http://sharepoint.wo… 21st Century World Ecosystem”):

The question to be asked, really, is whether we proceed with capitalism until we reach an ecological bifurcation point that leaves the habitability of the earth in question for the vast majority of the population, or we reach a social bifurcation point that leads us to a social system of production that is dissipative, nonetheless, but does not threaten the flowing balance of nature.

Bush, after all, is paid by his owning corporations to be the Decider of this juggernaut — can’t blame the little pervert man for doing his job, can ya?
