this list of real and really dead scientists is part of that story and freaked me out just a bit. they all died (many murdered or found dead in suspicious circumstances) in the last 10 years or so.

Then there’s this story about how what happened at an army base in Kansas caused the 1918 pandemic. It was easy to verify, in fact, that the pandemic did start at that army base. google it.

    You may also know of a man called Imus.  He had this ranch for cancer kids.  In doing such things he mistakenly started talking about stuff like the possible link between thimerosal and autism.  Or maybe it was his promotion of “green cleaning” products, or those products he found that did not contribute to the cancers of kids at the ranch.  You just can’t have a media icon talking about stuff contrary to the profit margins of big pharma.  We are after all the most medicated population on the planet earth.

    Last I knew it was 98 dead microbiologists, at least that was the Google search.

    In a related sense I can tell you that the pharma companies are welding stainless steel contraptions just about 24/7.  Stainless steel, being a rugged inert material is used in the processes of making various pharmacuticals.  The other research avenue starts with the keyword bio-safety level 4 lab.

    Know that you and I know lest we never ever shut up about it.

    Thank gawd neither of my kids have had a single vaccination….rarely are they sick.

  5. Polio scares me. Thanks to massive vaccination campaigns it has been mostly eradicated.

    Do I think all vaccines are wonderful. No. However, in general I believe they serve a useful purpose. Yes, they will have side effects like every single medication in the universe.

    Not slamming folks who decide against them, I just know where I stand. I remain in favour of them.

    We had our flu shots a couple of weeks ago. I always feel like crap a couple of days later, but just for  day.

    Had my biopsy today, so a little uncomfortable at the moment when I breathe in. 15 minute procedure and then 4hours(eeeek!) in recovery.  There were only “Woman’s Realm” and such to read. The nurse enquired – “Would you like me to fetch you some Men’s Magazines?”

    ” Only if you close the curtains, leave a beaker and have great patience – my right shoulder is aching like a bitch”, I replied.

    I enjoyed a slice of hospital tea and Mrs fd brought me home to spend a week waiting for results.

    I can only offer you some high cocoa solids choccy – or a nice Braeburn Apple. Or, I can turn back my eyelids and keep them that way for hours….

  7. One thing to clarify…. I get mine through work and it is useful because as a health care provider I am exposed more frequently. People do not get “the flu” from a flu shot as some tend to believe. The shot is not composed of a live virus, so at most folks may be getting side effects. Not to minimize them but the flu is worse.
