Iraq Moratorium Day On Docudharma

Just a quick item to ask everyone to post any thoughts you might have on the war or the Moratorium here tomorrow.

We want to show and provide support for this essential act of continuing protest as much as possible. Unless there is a miracle, this is will be a long war and we need a long term protest as a way for people to speak out in an organized and therefore more effective fashion.

My creative juices are still not fully flowing so any and all suggestions of how to ‘celebrate’ this day are more than welcome. Is there anything we can do graphically, for instance, that will alert everyone who clicks here that something important is going on?

  2. …about graphics, but I’d been working on something about combat brigade deployments.  If I can complete it by tomorrow, I’ll post it.

  3. I was thinking something along these lines:

a simple black masthead with maybe with “OUT OF IRAQ” in a military stencil font instead of the normal Docudharma slogan

  4. and would add a post (with comments disabled) that simply said, “In lieu of commenting/blogging/etc., write a letter to your Senator today.”

That’s what I’m going to do…and I’ll probably get a bit more work done tomorrow as well.

  5. for Buddha and Johnny Boy? plus the other stuff people are suggesting.

I’m trying to convert a slide show I made about Iraq into a youtube. Not sure how to do it yet. If I figure it out I’ll post it here.

The only thing worse than a million dead is a million dead innocents.

The only thing worse than having your own babies bombed is being responsible for bombing other people’s babies.

We must do more.  We must do everything.  We must stop this goddamned war!

  6. I was driving quickly on a road in the middle of nowhere today when out of the corner of my eye i saw a field of white flags representing every solier killed in Iraq.

It was very moving, I pulled a u-turn and went back.  It really sinks in.  And it was just some guys lawn.  That made it even more special.

Now, each of us has something we could use to represent loss/war/tragedy/horror/longing, if we really think about it.

  7. success?

at such a late date, but somehow acknowledging the troops who have died…

    U.S. Casualties

Not sure how we’d honor the slain Iraqis and other coalition forces – but would hate to miss this day without mentioning any of them.
