Anyway, as someone who has kept his eyes open and seen how things work on all levels of society I can say why things are this way. There's money and people want it and they will knock you over the head or flim-flam you for it. If they stand outside your store and warn you about vandalism and they ask for money you pay them the money. If you want health-care and they want their cut you gotta do it because they have the muscle. Everyone involved in our major institutions has muscle and that muscle enforces certain requirements that keep the status quo very quo.
