Muse in the Morning

Pooling

Absolutely Nothing

War

Huh! Good God, y’all!

What is it good for?

War is good

for making the rich richer

those mongers

who profit

from human suffering

and tragedy

It matters not

if they benefit from victory

by one side or the other

only that War

continue somewhere

forever

And War is good

for spreading

that suffering and tragedy

along with hatred

death and the disintegration

of human society

What more could anyone want?

Breaking Dawn

Songs that voices seldom share

Does it matter

if you hear me

When the morning comes

I’ll be there by your side

Does it matter

if words adapt

to three-part harmony?

Are you waking?

Will you stop here

to share yourself

so everyone can see?

And in the morning

when I am here

I may be spreading

a good thought

And sometime later

when you stop by

will anything of substance

have been taught?

Muse in the Morning

Imagining the Pain Away

Floating beneath a sea of pain

Focusing

on the point

where the pain

seemed to reside

I aimed my thoughts

to move that point

through my body

to a locus

an inch or two

off the tip

of my nose

where it would hurt

no longer

Wouldn’t it be grand

if our collective

consciousness

could cause

a similar effect

on the blights

humans have inflicted

on this planet?

With any luck

the ragged people

discover how to sing

on the countless

gray days

which occupy time

between those occasional

days of sunshine

In a better world

Bonding

Combination of the Two

The warmth of your smile

Providing comfort in a cold world

Friendship to chase away loneliness

Support in the face of hostility

A willing hand when relief is needed

And a hug

Two humans working together

Cooperating for survival

Sharing the joys and the pains

when they arrive

And a kiss

Having someone to be bored with

and sometimes break that boredom

Someone to share stories with

and with whom to make new ones

And cuddle

Until the end of time
